No wonder it can be easy to get into debt

I too have just got a letter from Bank of Scotland upping my credit card by another 2k!
I spoke to them last month about a balance transfer and was told they wouldn't increase my limit as i'd been late with a few payments last year.
Yet my letter today said it has been increased because i managed my account so well
APR on BT is 19.95%, so i'll be calling and telling them to reduce my limit as i wont be using it!

Hi
Dont have too much on my CC's ATM and will be paid up in April/May this year. I have stupid credit limits. Halifax One 14k, Barclaycard Platinum 11k, Capital One 2.5k, Skycard 9k = 36.5k available to me:eek:
Always being offered loans etc but am now disabled and not on the 50k+ a year I used to be on..LOL. All my debt is on a 0% cc but will be closing the other accounts down.
Although it could be very easy for me to run the cards up and then pay a £1 token each month to each debtor...morally I couldnt do this.
I suppose it comes down to choice at the end of the day. Just because its offered to you, does not mean you have to take it. The companies are just doing their jobs and is down to us to say NO thanks! We need to have self-control:D easier said than done though..LOL.
Looking it from another angle-we dont have cigarette companies pounding us for business-because it damages our health...well I think what the debt companies are kind of doing this but offering credit instead...which can be damaging to health toosounds abit extreme but YKWIM

You are right Penny Pincher, it is down to our self control and we dont have to accept their offers of increased limits etc.
I just found the attitude of Capital One shocking. I owed a lot to them and their attitude was why not spend more and owe us more, even though you've told us you are struggling and you've been late with payments.
Thankfully, i've had my lightbulb moment and will not be accepting their credit offers

It is all to easy for people to be sucked in with the idea of what they think is "free money" in the shortterm. But when the banks want it back. That's when the S%^t hits the fan for themIn debt no more!0

Oh no, that's when they sell you a consolidation loan so that you can "pay off" all your existing debts.......0 -
