A couple of years ago I used Egg's website to reduce my cc limit - and got rejected! When I phoned them, the guy said that someone lowering their limit was such an unusual occurence they hadn't bothered to set up the computer to handle it!

It works now by the way! Must be thanks to you! :D :T

I phoned Tesco (RBS) to reduce my limit and the women on the other end did a double take! "You want to REDUCE it?" :rotfl:

"Yes I'd like to reduce it please!!!"

  • I have an Alliance & Leicester credit card, which I have'nt used for over a year. I 've been steadily reducing the balance, it's still over £6k. Received a new card, have not activated it and they have now increased the limit to £8k.
  • i have a capital one card which i don't use anymore(must cancel it),as soon as i got to 0.00 they upped the limit i never used it much anyway so i put it down to 0.00 a few times each time they upped the limit.

I took out a loan with my bank in the summer as it was a cheaper APR, anyway about a month ago they called me to say that if i took out a new loan for an extra 3k then they would give me a lower apr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
  • Scary how easy it is for people to get into debt! Most people tend to live just above their means, this is what the financial institutions prey on. Well done to everyone who's successfully reduced their cc limit and/or balance (count me in  )

Target for 2006 - get all credit cards in Britain down to £0 and put the companies out of business! Then refuse them all credit... :p

Don't they claim that most people are only three wage packets away from the streets.

Now that is a scary thought.

They mean that most people have no savings. And after 3 months with out any wages/income they will have no home as they can't pay the mortgage and bills.

Don't forget that if you rent you are in a better position then people who own when it comes to benefits. As you will get your rent paid but if you have mortgage tough. You have to wait 36 weeks and you might get help with the interest payments.
