There was a huge skip outside the front of our local Woolies - and a large crowd of people trawling though it and taking stuff away. Mostly out of date sweets and broken stuff, but there were more people outside the shop in the skip than were actually shopping inside :rolleyes:0 -

No not exactly, but the Chinese seem to have taken a cr4p car and make it worse some how. The last decent Rover was the P 5 B.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
I take it you mean the MG TF LE500, which is assembled in Longbridge ENGLAND.bo_drinker wrote: »Sorry but most of what I have seen that comes from China is cr4p. Not talking about every day items, things like tools and their motorcycles are bad copies (awful) The Rover sports car they are re making has a bad name already... I could go on.
You buy cheap you pay twice they say.
The Rover brand is, in fact, owned by Tata.
Not everthing from China is cheap, and cr4p, as you say, you get what you pay for. The Chinese are capable of making very high quality goods, but they come at a price, which British retailers are not prepared to pay for, they seem to prefer to con the public by buying cheap and passing it off at high prices[strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j

Hmv owns Waterrstones, which in turn bought out Ottakars bookshops and the few of dillions that were left. Now that Zavvi is going, Woolworths has gone and Silverscreen went years ago there is no direct competition, aside from possibly WHSmiths, for dvd/cd/game sales.
Yes sure there is Game or Gamestation, but, (with Game owning Gamestation), the sales are mostly pre-owned and no other retailer that I know of takes in pre-owned games.
I would say for now HMV wont be in the news for administration for at least a year.0 -

I think you've forgetten about all the major supermarkets.0 -
And Amazon and Play.com. People may browse in the High Street but they will still buy the cheapest (with some premium for no time lag). So, supermarkets and online will be a major winner if those left don't compete to some degree with them.0

People are quick to advise us what is happening but, get the facts right. Whittards were bought out nearly as soon as administration was announced.0
