BT Broadband - what to say for best deal?

Options
Has anyone got any ideas please? I'm with BT at the minute for phone and broadband (basic package) and as I've never had any problems I'd like to stay with them. I'd like to get wireless broadband but on their website it says you get 250 wifi minutes per month - that's only just over 4 hours which seems a bit short. Does that mean you have to have your computer 'plugged in' to the phone line if you go over the 250mins or they will charge?

I read here a few weeks ago about some people getting the hub for free and £7.00 approx broadband - is this right? Do they only offer this if they get asked for the MAC code and you threaten to cancel?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

  • The wifi minutes are for when you're out and about with a laptop - connecting into a 'hotspot' - at an airport for example.

While you're in range of your own broadband hub at home you can be wireless for as long as you like.

I called for a mac last weekend and got offered BB at £7 - they were desparate to keep me even though I said price wasn't the issue.....I'm on basic like you, and have been with BT for just over 4 years. I bought my own wireless hub, they're less than £50 quid now so don't think you have to get it in the package...

I too got my broadband renewed with BT @£7 inc the hub 2 for free. Wasn't bothered about the BT vision thing they do. In March I'll be contacting them about my phone side of things too.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.

PS - it was Customer Options team who I dealt with.

  • The offer is £7.33 a month with a new 12 month contract. The wireless you mention is openzone which is nothing to do with a home wireless connection. The hub 2.0 is given free when you recontract and your usage remains 10 gb

What number did you call for this deal? My BB is due for renewal in February so need to call them soon. £7.33 sounds better than the £22 I currently pay:eek:
  • number to call is 0800 800 030 press option for mac code but dont mention mac code just say you called before and was offered £7.33 a month with a new hub 2.0 and are now calling back to take up the offer.
AIRWOLF1. If you are paying £22.00 ish a month you may be on option2 so this will a downgrade to option 1 and you will lose 5gb usage and free security.
you can take out netprotect for £3.50 a month on top of £7.33 if you need to still retain the security but if you want the extra usage too and want to stay on option 2 then it £13.50 less the new vat reductions.
  • sorry forgot to add you must be in an llu area to get the cut priced deals. check sam knows
