He has already won the delaying game, the longer he can delay the less chance it will have to come down.0 -
But it's gorgeous! Why would anyone object? Envy I guess.0

Why just envy?
I object. I've never seen this building, I don't live anywhere near Mr Fidler or have any interest, other than the fact that I've applied for planning permission three times in the last three years, successfully in each case.
I just feel that we should all abide by the same rules. It's simple enough.
The man's creative approach to the rules makes me smile, but I still hope that he loses in the end.

I can see it going on for several years yet, he will keep delaying. The longer he can delay the more chance of him keeping it.0

Not at all. The default acceptance clock has already been stopped, due to the council refusing permission. The only chance that increases by "delaying" (or, rather, keeping bouncing it up the legal chain) is the chance of him going bankrupt through the legal fees.
Strange how the council's take on it all differs from the newspaper reports of the developer's opinion...

This sentence says everything about his attitude towards planning regulations...The_council wrote:The house was one of 12 cases before the appeal inspector in 2008. Ten of those cases related to things that Mr Fidler had done without planning permission. Two cases were about applications of his that the council had refused.0 -
I bet he has all sorts of tricks up his sleve yet, he has rung rings around them and will continue to.0

he has rung rings around them and will continue to.
No he won't. He will eventually run out of delaying tactics and he has already lost. The only thing he has gained is a rather large legal bill. :rotfl:Every generation blames the one before...

The only "rings" he has "run" are the legal hoops he has had to jump through in spending more of his money prolonging the inevitable.
You get the no-prize for the latest ill-informed " I bet he will win, he has beaten them etc etc blah blah blah" post.0 -
I live in London's green belt and up to now there have been several sites that have been rejected over the last 40 years that I have lived here. However those sites where conflict has continued amid various dubious non complying transient uses are now getting permission.
Under pressure to magic up new housing sites and with a new "sustainable" planning regime having come into effect, previous NOs now pass as YESes.
Perhaps the "castle" could be accepted as a building of special architectural interest standing in its own grounds.;)0
