Thanks yes interesting.
Is there a way to keep the structure there all the time though?
This chap tried to get planning but gave up appealing and went for a low impact house instead.

Why not build underground. You can use old tires which are free, rammed with earth with a sledge hammer.
So hire a JCB to dig out the required hole. Build the 3 back walls with ram filled tires then damp proof course battened on to the tires, then plaster board nailed to the battens. The front wall can be all glass to let as much light in as possible, but keep the entrance hidden from road and top (Google Earth) also need to think carefully about drainage.
You could have a floating floor with damp proof layer down first, the roof could be beams supported on the tire walls. A few sky lights and chimney could be hidden the best way possible. Then cover with wood then fiber glass (or there may a better option) then a good few feet of earth. Soon the grass will grow and hide the skylights and chimney.
If Mr Fidler did something like this instead of stupid Tudor Castle hidden behind straw bales, then he could have got away with it without all the court appearances.0 -
Is it still there after all these years? So he has got away with it then, made a mockery of the local council.0

Surely, in your case, you could just build a Death Star, take it down to the local councl offices and then blow the bu99ers to kingdom come?
I'm sure that would be much easier in the long run.0 -
Yes - it's still there.
Just looked over this thread and it's amazing how many PPR'd users there are on it!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

.....just like the mock Tudor castle and the permanent pitches on the illegal half of Dale Farm.
It's not difficult is it and you can't expect planning officers to be clairvoyant.
Is that Tudur castle still there? How on Earth did he get away with it?Big deflation your debts are going up against everything else. I would not like to be a property owner with a big mortgage right now, pay off your debts ASAP!0 -

Seems he lost in the High Court in 2010, and was heading for Europe.
These sorts of cases can can take years to come to court over there, so I suspect it may still be rumbling on.0
