If i was mr fiddler i would have took the hay stacks down and if anyone made a complaint i would just say the hay wasnt there, the house as, it must be your eyes playing up.

You would be amazed at how many sources of accurately dated very clear aerial photos are available these days.
The system for giving subsidies to "farmers" is said to be accurate to the width of a sheet of A4 paper.

But even the UK is a very big country, whos is going to notice if you build a house in the country, then 4 yrs later get a lawful development certificate.

I think its a shame that Mr Fidler has got away with it, using public funds to pay for his legal aid all the time.

He has made a mockery of the local council and the entire planning system in this country.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

What you can be sure of is that U and I will have paid a 6 figure sum to fiddler's representatives not to mention what the good people of some where in Surrey are paying to another set of representatives to fight the issue.

This is the same aswhat everyone was saying last year and the year before that.

He hasnt got away with it it will have to come down. Will be the same next year and the year after...........

It will never come down. So even though legaly its ongoing as long as he gets legal aid its not costing him a penny. He has got away with it.

I think this is still going through the high courts, but if anyone is really curious, drop his council an email and they will tell you. End of the day it's unlawful, he won't be able to sell it on, but I would be completely disgusted if this abomination is just left there.

    Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off

Thats my point its been going through the courts for serveral years. It still will be for many more years until they give up.

All the time its not costing him anything and hes getting benefits.

Assuming the high courts agree with the sectretary of state/inspector though, it will cost him his house, and the money he put in to build it at the end of the day.

Can I ask a question to all the inspectors on here.

If Mr Fidler just built it illegally and lived in it for 4 years or more without any problems but never tried to get a lawful development certificate, could he just wait until an inspector enquires about it and then apply for the LDC?

What Im asking is can you apply for the lawful development certificate after you have been found out about?

With the way the economy is and more and more homeless people about, it may happen that more and more people try doing what Mr Fidler did especially since he got away with it.

House prices are still way above the long term mean and wages are falling instead of going up to meet the still inflated house prices.

More and more tent city`s will be springing up all around us like this one.
