The present government have made it easier to convert redundant farm buildings to residential under what's known as Class Q.

It might make sense for Mr Fidler to go down that route next, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him interpret any planning permission granted in his own inimitable style.

He may yet provide further delights and entertainment.....

A farmer who secretly built a castle behind giant hay bales has applied for planning permission to build two new homes - on the same land.

    As predicted here, then! :D

Being the owner of a redundant agricultural barn myself, I applaud his latest venture and I wish him every success. :T
('Plans' seem a little vague, mind. It will be interesting to see how he intends to meet insulation standards, as per building regs.)

He's cladding the steel externally. Scope for insulation between the two there.
Presumably he'll be plastering or finishing the steel internally. Scope for insulation between the two there.

Condensation might be a risk. Probably safest to remove the steel...

I wonder how much it's cost the local tax payers to fight this man over all these years.

He's been ordered to pay costs, many times.

Probably a lot less than it costs to pursue benefits cheats or big companies that illegally avoid taxes, but just like in those cases it's naive short term thinking not to pay it because the moment people know you won't pursue them for criminal behavior you'll get more of it.
