I have a unique £20 note, there is only of them in my pocket.
If you send me a cheque for £25 you can have it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

isn't every £20 note unique - surely they all have different serials?0

I can't see any particular serial numbers being in any way rare. Even old money that's out of print - such as pound notes - aren't all that rare or worth a lot of money. Funny you should mention serials, though - there was a scam that a particular group of tealeaves tried to pull at my former place of work.
At the risk of getting slightly off-topic, a couple of people would come in and buy some small item, and ask for change. Then on looking at their notes, they'd claim they needed notes with a certain serial number as only they could be sent to some certain country. Yes, it sounds implausible, but if the person at the till fell for it, they'd open the draw, and the tealeaves would try and grab as much cash as they could.0 -
Probably the notes with serial numbers like AA 000 000 01 , would be the ones worth collecting.
I don't know what the actual serial numbers are, but it is always the numbers with sequences or numbers that make words (we all now 8008135, don't we), that people would go for.
I have never heard of people collecting notes for their serial numbers, but I imagine it would be like people paying loads for personlised number plates, or special phone numbers.0 -
If you get to count notes then they have already been in circulation and handled this knocks their chances of holding any extra value, I worked as a bank cashier for over 7 years and have never actually seen or handled a note worth more than its face value, the very, very old one £ notes are worth money to collectors (i'm talking before the ones I remember lol) but again their value is much dependent on their condition. Its the same with coins, I have turned some people away exchanging old coins as they may get more from a collector but they are never mint.
I have never heard of £20 notes being worth more for their serial number.0 -
i collect bank notes and so does my father,if the serial number is low or unusual collectors will pay more for it,so yes there worth more than face valueLive in my shoes for a week, then tell me your lifes hard!0

Wow quite a good response. I think it is about mainly having the first or last of the series DE XXXXXXXX etc. Thing is who would actually pay more for it? I can't find a thing on the Internet about it ...Help me to help you :santa2:0
