Thats absolute rubbish, my local pc world has a large section in the store with tv's in, had between 20-30 on display.

correct! bolton store had good selection of tv's, recently had a re-fit and they've got even more on display then before.

Below are the price match policies for pc world and currys, just print them out and take them in-store. They cant argue if you've it writing in front of them. Also always ask them everything you want to knw about the tv i.e. features, spec and whether they have it in stock before you ask them for a pricematch. If you ask them straight away bout the pricematch, they'll probably give you a ridiculous excuse and not match it. Oh dont forget the 10% difference, they always seem to 'forget' to give u that...

  • I am fairly sure that this is not the V - the supermarkets have the lower quality one, which most of them call the L, as far as I know. Somebody here thought they saw the V at Sainsbury last week, but when they went back and checked it was actually the L.

I have been offered a KDL32S4000 or a KDL32V4000 for the same price. You seem to have some knowledge of the different versions. What are the differences between the two models? If you don't know the exact details can you tell from the model numbers which is the best buy?

I think the Sony Shop in Milton Keynes said that essentially the S and V are the same TV, but with different looks. To be perfectly frank though I became quite confused by all the different models on offer, so I could well be wrong - I often am! :rotfl:

Maybe one of the many self-appointed "experts" that the internet seems to be blessed with can confirm or deny this (that the S and V have the same internals, I mean, not that I am often wrong!) :rotfl:
Thanks to all who post constructively.

What price are you talking about??
I hope it's max. £350. I was told they are essentially the same tv but with different looks.

  • Aaarrgh. I ordered this a few days ago from Dixons online for £322 using the SALE25 discount code and have been excited waiting for it to arrive, but only just realised they emailed me the day after apologising and saying they were in fact sold out!

Gutted. Now starting from scratch looking for the same TV but can't find it anywhere below £349.99... :(

I ordered the SONY KDL32V4000 online from Dixons on the 28th of December for £329.00.

Got a phone call from them on the 30th to say it was out of stock but if I was willing to wait they could deliver it by the end of January so I agreed.

Got an email a few days ago...

Did they not give you the option of waiting for it to come back in stock?

For that price I'm happy to wait.

That really is bo**ocks because exactly the same thing happened to my sister-in-law. She ordered and rang them up when nothing arrived to at first be told it was due to a problm with her credit card. Bank confirmed this was not so. Rang back and was told it was out of stock. Hopeless customer service. She ended up getting it from Amazon. I got mine from Dixons but I was lucky enough for it to actually arrive.

I got a bit worried about the quality of standard definition signals but freeview looks fine, DVDs look great and thats without an upscaling player.

Excellent TV, especially for the money.

Even though I didn't know I wanted a telly before I started reading these forums :P
