  • I use my connection at home to check mails and orders etc. Business broadband is at work but as it's my business i like to keep on top of emergencies and sometimes work from home so home bb would be fine.
  • A response from Sky just turned up...here have a read of what the cheating thieves want to charge me!
    Dear Mrs *********,

    Customer Account Number: 6*********44

Thank you for your email regarding your Sky account cancellation.

Please let me apologise for the length of time it has taken us to answer your query.

The terms and conditions of your digital subscription contract require a minimum subscription period of twelve months, at which time, cancellation will be accepted with one month’s notice.

Under the terms of the free minidish and digibox offer if you cancel your subscription before the minimum period expires, you can be charged the cost of providing your digital satellite system of up to 80.00 (GBP). Also, under the terms of the installation offer you took up you can be charged the difference between what you paid for standard installation of your digital satellite system and our full standard installation charge of 120.00 (GBP).

Our records show that there is a remaining eleven months until the end of the minimum term. Should you still wish to cancel your digital subscription account at this time, please contact us again and we will process your request.

In the meantime, you may wish to amend your viewing option to a lesser package which can be arranged by contacting our customer service department on 08442 41 41 41.

Should you require assistance, please do not hesitate to email us at the above address.

    Kind regards
    Arpit

The guy in the mall you bought it off, is a sub contractor of sky.

They basically can offer FREE broadband, but it seems your area isnt equipped for it, thats why they ffered it you for 10. it was the sales persons responsiblity to have odne a post code check and he should have told you that

I know, he did do the post code check and confirmed it would be free...but then somebody called up and told me i couldn't have it for free (after i'd signed the contract and come home), i got offered a deal and said they could knock it down to a fiver a month as i'm taking the sky tv package too so i accepted the package still. However, I still don't have an active connection with Sky broadband.

Right now two openreach guys are scratching about outside, the fifth engineer visit..... on and on it goes.

People here seem to be missing the point. Sky sold me a TV AND BB package, I got savings on my BB because I took out Sky TV movies package too. Surely that signifies ONE PACKAGE and not two?

Now they can't supply BB I want to cancel everything as they can't supply the package i was sold BUT they won't let me cancel the TV package.

    Right or Wrong eh?

Might be worth contacting ofcom.org.uk if you feel you need to make a complaint against their customer service attitude and sales etiquette.

Just called ofcom but they think i should speak with consumer direct (on 0845 4040506 for other users reference).

off to saynoto0870.com now to find a landline alternative to that 0845 number! :money:

I agree with you OP that you signed up to a complete BB and TV package, this happened to me a couple of years back when sky first started doing BB I was in the area for free BB so signed up, anyway as it turned out they had not LLU slots left in my exchange and therefore I would have to pay £17 per month. Well obviously that was not good enough so I complained and I was given the BB free until enable to real free BB.

All good until 3 months later they changed their minds and started to bill me, I spent about 3 hrs on the phone not getting anywhere with anyone so sent an email to James Murdoch requesting the contract be cancelled. Within 24hrs they had done this and compensated me nearly all the money I had paid them over the last 3 months. They also let me keep the box which went to my FIL as his had just broke.

Send an email to James Murdoch and I am sure it will be sorted.

Whoever told you that the MOD won't let BT onto the Army Training camp to sort out the lines are talking aload of rubbish....just thought you'd like to know

BT has certain engineers that have been secruity checked by the MOD so that they can come onto MOD land to sort such problems, they are even given special passes

So someone is talking out of their butt
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

Yes, you're right, I know about the security checked engineers. I didn't want to go into too much depth but basically the MOD comms room has all the shorter lines reserved for their offices and will no longer let civillian lines on the short ones. It adds 2 miles to the length of the line according to the engineer. So MOD have a hand in preventing access for me too!

The package you signed on to is a TV package, + a broadband package, which they have discounted to £5 due to the TV package you have taken.

So you are not able to cancel the TV one, though you would be within your rights to cancel the broadband one.

as for selling technique, it is possible you may get them to allow you to cancel duw to the way the packages have been sold to you, however thats a slim to no chance really.
