If you feel you would have a hard time opening another account, you alone know the reason why.
Have you claimed bank charges? I would (I have!) but this may account for the way they are being too. Loyalty is a 2 way street, before taking any moral high ground (switching accounts) I'd have a long hard think about their reasons.
Will applying for another account not show up somewhere? Generate a search with a credit reference agency?
