RBS took my debit card and then sent me a cashline card. PLEASE HELP!

Last Wednesday when I was using one of the cashlines outside a supermarket my debit card wasn't returned to me and it was swallowed up! I imediately called the number to report what happend and cancel my card.
Last night I came home to find a new card had been posted to be but was disappointed to find it was a cashline card and not a debit card
then I made phone call to telephone banking where I was advised to call the branch of the account which I did this morning.
When I called the bank I was advised that I would have to fill out a form to appeal which could only be done at the branch. When I discussed the matter with the teller at the bank I was then told that I may not receive a debit card due to the conduct on my account either not enough money and activity in my account or charges. Admittedly, I've had a many charges on the account but over the past year have gotten my act together to avoid them
however, this month I've received two charges due to not being able to access the account either in person or online due to lack of web access. Anyway, no forms where filled out and I was told if I was dissatisfied then to make a complaint.
I have two accounts with RBS, a current account which my wages go in to, it has a cashline card, my other account, formally with debit card, is where my bills are paid and I use the debit card to pay for orders on Amazon and Ebay etc.
It's a HUGE inconvenience for me not to have a debit card  I've had not incurred any charges on the current account, would it be worth my while requesting a debit card on this account to replace the cashline. I really don't see ANY point in having two cashline cards when I can keep all the money in one account!
If anyone can advise please do, it would be very much appreciated.

I could do.... I guess 11 years of being a loyal customer means nothing eh?
So which banks offer debit cards... and um, I have a feeling I'll have a hard time opening an account :think:0 -
if you reckon that you'll have a hard time opening an account, write to the Manager of the branch that you hold your account with and explain the circumstances. Ask the question about customer loyalty and why they aren't offering you a debit card any longer.
Maybe it's worth pointing out that as a tax payer, following the bank bail out that you own part of the bank now....0 -
I have a loan with the RBS and I've NEVER missed a payment... it took me months to get a loan with them, the constantly mesed me around, they didn't keep me updated, they never return my phone calls and all the while whilst I'm trying to get a loan to cover my last overdraft they kept on charging me. They don't understand this! they loan was so they would stop charging me and getting me into the red and hurting my finances.
Yes, I think I'm going to remind them that I am loyal... I say 11 years but my mother set up a savings account in my name with them when I was a little girl, so when I think about it, it's been longer than that.0 -

I've certainly never experienced it."The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0 -

Your Cashline card has the Solo symbol right? That means you can still use it in many shops like a debit cardKavanne
Nuns! Nuns! Reverse!

Superly Vince, the "card" system usually works the same as the internal credit scoring system, ie, (without going into too much detail) when we order cards for customers, the card that pops up first is usually the highest type of card you can have without "appealing" it. If we try to order a different type of card that you're not eligible for, we have to usually get it authorized either internally or send off the slip which prints off. The alternative to this is "applying" for a different card which you were advised to do.
Was it a silver Highline card that you had before, or was it a purple/blue Cashline Plus card with the Solo symbol on it? (I think this is the one you're thinking of Kavanne)
Either way, the heirarchy is Cashline (ATM only) > Cashline Plus (Debit) > Highline (£100 - Debit) > Highline (£250 - Debit)
I don't fully understand why you didn't fill out the form, unless you hate filling forms out like me
What were the charges for exactly? Sometimes, customers choose not to have debit cards, solely for the reason that they may get into debt or get charges for spending away. But I would say speak to someone higher as advised - it's just a case of getting the card authorizedAnything that I do say, is strictly my opinion

If I were you, I should have gone talking directly to the right person to answer your plea. talking to the wrong person causes you more heartaches considering that you are a loyal "fan" of the said bank. I think banks now are doing everything to win a "customer", but it seems your bank is doing the other way around. It's time to consult the "expert" and that is the bank's manager.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0

Hi You may want to look at other banks cos sometimes you can get cash just for opening an account with them!Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0
