Opening and ISA whilst abroad

Mr KG and I will have some money to put into ISAs for 2006/7 but will be out of the country.

Is it possible to open an ISA from overseas (New Zealand)? Can someone else open an ISA on your behalf?

My mum is going to have power of attorney on my accounts whilst I am away in case of any difficulties and Mr KG's dad is doing similar for him. Does this make things any simpler?

Thanks

KG

You cannot open or deposit any money in an ISA if you are not resident and ordinarily resident in the UK.

Neither can you normally have someone else open the ISA on your behalf, but the power of attorney may be an exception.
