I think house is priced to sell. According to OP its well below average price in street and is vacant so they have priced to sell it.
The comment about it being worth 40k in 2 years is a joke OP has already stated that mortgage works out cheaper than monthly rental.
Anticipate this place will go quickly. Theres a lot of people out there with cash and its a decent investment as its priced to sell. Its not a million miles from uni and loft extension makes it 5-6 rentable rooms.
With interest rates at record lows a landlord not requiring a mortgage would look at this very closely.0 -
The doing it up, the buying/replacing/fixing things costs too, a boiler service here, all great if the LL pays.... I'd question what you really want - for us two double beds was a must - lots of couples visiting - that 2nd/3rd bedroom sound like singles. The upstairs loo was a must too after living in a rented without one. DiY costs time - spending your hols replacing a bathroom is not fun, you need to be practical and the costs mount up...currynchips wrote: »Interesting comment that spuds(2-1!!).
I could live there for 5-7 years definitely, got at least another 3 years in uni and no plans to move back north.
It is currently the worst house on the street, street is average as I've said. I could really like this house, it's an ideal size, it has parking, a large park behind the garden which itself is a decent size. Would love to do it up. And yes, no kids!0
