Call India for 1.5p,US for 0.5p and many more destinations

How it Works

1.With your mobile phone, text the message CHEAP (or CHEAP ON*) to the short number 81223. This text will cost you £5 and we will credit your mobile phone with £5.

2.Call access number 020 8180 5656 (standard rate) from the same mobile you used to send the text message (020 calls are charged at your mobile provider's standard rate).

(*Once you run out of credit, you will automatically receive a 5 pound recharge. To unsubscribe from this service please text CHEAP STOP to short number 81223)

Calls are subjected to a 5p connection fee.

Calling an access number may incurr additional charges depending on the main service provider and for which of their services you are paying.
My Option One account with Tiscali will cost me:
8p call connection fee PLUS 4.5p per minute

Also watch out for extra connection charges by some.
Then there are those who charge from the moment you dial.
In either case, you end up paying whether the call get connected or not.

After a lot of research, I found these for India, from around 1p per minute ( true cost incl VAT and currency convertion costs)
Often, free calls to UK landlines, US, Canada, France and some other countries
Make sure read their small print for details.

With some you have to call from the same landline number or from the same IP address.
I have not tried it for myself but with SmartVoIP and Jumblo you can make free calls to UK from India using the same account!

SmartVoIP, Jumblo and webcalldirect are part of the Betamax Group. Consider yourself lucky if you get a reply from their 'customer support'.

To do it style and with ease, get a SIP phone (not Skype) and use with your broadband connection. I use a Siemens Giagset S685IP. A DECT phone for normal landline calls and VoIP. There are cheaper SIP phones from Siemens and few others.

Some of those mentioned above and many other can be used with mobiles phones if an application called Tring is loaded up
You will need a phone that runs an OS called Symbian. Nokia has many models.
