Hi,
The philly with garlic and herbs was on discount at tesco. i've never had it before so i decided to splurge and try it out.
it tastes a bit too bland on toast, so im looking for other recipies/ideas on what to do with it before it expires.
one idea i had was loaded potato skins, but what else can i put on it besides the cream cheese?
would really appreciate any ideas!

Mix it with some chopped up crispy bacon.
You can also make a nice easy pasta sauce by frying some onions, adding pasata and then stirring in some of your Philly.
Dead easy cheap and tasty0 -
chopped up cooked bacon and spring onions mixed into the cream cheese - will do jacket spuds and pasta, EDIT - SNAP mymatebob!!
maybe stuff chicken breasts with some and roast
with parma ham on blini's
hmmm i'll try to think of more,Nonny mouse and Proud!!

whats a blini? also, if i make pasta i'll have to use like half a tub right lol.....
even though it was on discount it was still a bit pricey so i'd prefer something that would make it go a long way, like you dont need that much for a jacket potato/loaded skin
for better quality cream cheese i mix it up with sturgeon caviar and have it on top of smoked salmon slices....heavenly lol
but the garlic and herb one wouldnt go well with it i reckon... plus im a bit broke now .....0 -
I use it to 'stuff' large mushrooms and then cook them in the oven, excellent for vegetarians.
You could put a dollop in when you are mashing spuds.
Make a creamy pasta sauce.

hey thats an excellent idea. what kind of mushrooms do you use? also, will the philly melt or taste dodgy if i cook it in the oven?0

Get those large mushrooms, fill the 'cup' with the cheese, and bake in the oven, they are delish0

How about risotto?
Make the risotti, just using stock then stir in the phili just before you serve.

Sounds weird but is lovely, put it on toast and then put a fried egg on top and have it for breakfast - we usually do this with boursin but philly works well too.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
