Layout of the front page/75.00 offer has just been redesigned IMO. ;)

In theory, Nationwide may have already had more than 4000, what will turn out to be eligible applications. My branch promised to post me all required forms just before Christmas.
  • ... I don't think I'll bother this time.
Changed my mind after managed to secure £1K to be used for the e-saver+, today I have received a letter from their switching service informing me that one DD and one SO have been transferred.
I just wonder whether I stand a real chance of being one of the lucky 4000 - any feedback on the speed of your qualifying actions?
BTW, I was informed by their marketing department that one has to do the switching in conjunction with the £1K deposit (an obvious example of bad wording/formatting) so I expect people to argue the clarity of the offer comes payoff day...
    iaye carramba!

When I sent the switching forms back, I added a note to say not to bother if im not within the first 4000.

75.00 Switching offer is still being advertised so one has to assume that the 4000 figure hasnt been reached yet, either that or Nationwide dont know if the 4000 figure of eligible applications has been reached yet.

The way I see it, before 31st of March it won't be possible to say who are the 'lucky' 4000 participants

Today I received new Nationwide Debit Card ( New Flexi account has been on my online banking since 14th January), got 1000.00 cheque from Abbey branch which i took to Nationwide branch, I asked the cashier whether being as the offer signs were still up did that mean that the 4000 figure hadnt been reached, answer was "cant say, all we can say is that the offer is changing tomorrow" ( by that i assume no longer being promoted)

I will now ask Nationwide via online message whether or not i am within the first 4000 eligible applicants on the basis that its unreasonable to expect people to keep 1000.00 in a Nationwide account until 31 March 2009 on the basis that they may or may not be one of the first 4000 qualifying applicants. ;)

I haven't heard back from anyone - since 31 December. They took an authorisation in the branch - clearly linked to the £75 offer - so they are my 'backstop' just in case Nationwide's Account Transfer Team hasn't received the paperwork!

    Their address (May 2007) is:

    Account Transfer Team
    Payment Services
    Nationwide BS
    Nationwide House
    Pipers Way
    SWINDON
    SN38 3GN

    Tel: (01793) 656655

I tried the number a few times in the days after I applied, but it was always on 'ansaphone' - so I never got through....

I imagine this to be not-so-easy exercise for them so they will decline.
What about the following scenario: you are the 4999th in the list (ordered from first to lsat qualified) and then 999 members [from the same list & ahead of you] have to withdraw some money from the £1K/cancel the other product/simply 'fall' of the list before 31st of March?
    Anyway, keep us posted please:beer:
@ Milarky: they took my transfer form even earlier than yours, the request to my other bank to present the list of DD&SO was sent on 31st Dec and only this week I've got the confirmation letter (and now the originators also have to amend the new details!!). Methinks it is going to be the latest of the 3 dates that they will consider me as qualified. It is worth chasing the number for the Transfer team, because the response from my other bank was already received, but it hasn't being actioned upon, and the person on the phone did it then and there for me. Goodluck!

I agree with the scenerio that you portrayed, whilst Nationwide may well choose to decline to answer ( in the same way as i declined Branch Staff offer of taking its Head Office Phone number:rotfl: ) I believe that its a reasonable expectation that Nationwide answer as to whether someone is currently within the first 4000 as long as the terms and conditions are met until Dday. ;)

As for Milarky and whether Switching forms reached Head Office, my personal opinion is that Nationwide wont be totally rigid on the figure of 4000 and will allow itself some flexibility to minimise complaints and grievances, I called in at my local branch on 22nd December where im well known, I asked for the switching forms, all they had was the 75.00 offer leaflet, My address details were noted with a promise that the switching forms would be sent to me, I received nothing _pale_ so ended up applying online in January for a second Flexi-account.

I've deposited my transfer form on 23rd (branch had the form but no idea of the offer - absolutely the same as 2 yrs ago with the then £100 low hanging fruit, so had to educate them;)) , 1K transfer done on 29th Dec and the rest of the timeline for my saga is as above.

Also asked them the same question as you did via the messaging, implying that is should be a simple join query  to pull the 'current' 4000 £75 takeaways. Fingers crossed.

p.s. every time I read yours 'i'm well known' it cracks me up :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :T

Id be suprised if u werent within the first 4000 easily. ;) "well known" thing :o was just indicating that if the branch were asked about the 22nd December promise, im quite confident the Branch Advisor would recall the occurrence, ;) as that itself is just as much an issue as any switching forms that get lost in between a branch and head office.

This is the message that i sent to Nationwide earlier.

    FlexAccount_****……. and 75.00 Switching Incentive

On 22nd December I asked Bedminster Branch in person for Switch application forms as I then assumed switching of my DDs and SOs to Nationwide would occur to my existing Flexi Account, The Branch had the 75.00 offer leaflet but no switching forms, I was promised that these would be posted to me, no such forms arrived.

As a regular contributor on http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com I saw that people were opening a second account in order to get a Debit card so in January I applied for a new Flexi Account ( im happy 2 have two debit cards) and indicated that I would switch my Standing orders/Direct debits to Nationwide from my Abbey account

I received switch forms through post in response to my online application which i returned signed with a note to say that if im not within the first 4000 eligible applicants then dont bother with switching my direct debits/standing orders to Nationwide.

Today I received Debit card, I went to Abbey branch got a 1000.00 Cheque from my 3.5% branch based account and paid it into my new Nationwide account.

Clearly im not going to leave 1000.00 in a lower paying account than the Abbey account until at least 31 March 2009 and then discover I wasnt one of the first 4000 eligible applicants for the 75.00 switch incentive so I believe that its a reasonable expectation for Nationwide to inform me whether or not i am one of the first 4000 eligible applicants

I look 4ward to the answer
