My son was 5 weeks old, I had to leave him as my daughter had to have her tonsils/adenoids out and grommets put in. I hated leaving him, but couldn't bear not to be with DD as she's only 3. The overnight stay was the hardest as I'd had to have a c-section with DS so was extremely sore, DD was very distressed and I was missing DS like mad.

I left my daughter with my mum at 7 weeks old when me and hubbie went out for a dinner and then back home for a good nights sleep. Since then one of the 2 sets of granparents have her at least once a month overnight - the granparents and my daughter love it and we are able to have couple time. she also started nursery for 3 days when she was 9mths and loves it now.MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46

I had no choice but to leave my 7 day old baby with a slightly drunk but very responsible uncle as my CS scar burst and DH had to take me to A&E. Think claret big time. The baby was fine, the uncle was NOT. He was really worried about the responsibility even though he is the Father of two grown up girls. He sat by the Moses basket the entire time we were gone and to this day we laugh about it.0

I didn't leave either of my boys until they were at least 12 months because I was breastfeeding and couldn't express. Also I didn't want to and didn't have to - my two best friends had babies around the same time and we just got together with all the babies.
That said, my ex manager has recently left his son for the first time. He's 6!!0 -

We left our daughter at 4 days with my mum so I could get some fresh air. We only went for a walk round tesco. At 3 weeks we went to the cinema and for a meal and mum looked after her. My best mate, who is also her guardian, looked after her for a couple of hours one day while I got my hair cut and she has stayed with MIL overnight at 6 weeks and again this week at 7 weeks. We are trying to keep our lives as normal as possible and still get some time to ourselves. I wouldnt leave her with anyone that we dont trust fully.
