Council house

  • I guess it depends what area you're in, My cousin's ex-girlfriend had a one bed for her a boy (5) and baby (girl). The children can share the parents bedroom until they're 10, so it wasnt classed as being overcrowded.

My sister was given a one bedroom flat when she was pregnant, once the baby was born they moved her into a 2 bedroom house. They have to give 2 bedrooms especially when she will have two kids. It's very rare to give a one bedroom with 2 kids unless it's only for a short while.

I guess it does and if your lucky at the time.

thats true, my friend lives with her partner in a 1 bedroom council flat with a child who is nearly 6 years old sharing their bedroom :o

they dont have to re-house someone just cause they have an extra child on the way, it depends on the council and whether they have a flat or house available at the time and if they are a priority

Obviously depends on the area, but in the two council areas I have most experience of it's unheard of for someone to get a two bedroom place with two kids under 5 unless they've been in a hostel for over a year or in a one bedroom place for over 3 years.

On a slightly different note, the original poster seems to be implying that there is no violence in the relationship but the friend might say there is to get a council place?

I hope I misunderstood that as that is stooping really low.

I think it all depends on how many council properties they have available at the time. There arnt many round here so they wont rehouse you if you leave a home you already have no matter what the reason was for leaving. I wish it wasnt like that but it is and they cant conjure up houses from nowhere.

Yeh, someone I know dragged up every reason possible and got letters from doctors, dentists, vets you name it stating why they had to have a council house.
