It's very late in the day now but you should have asked for a review of the crisis loan decision but ONLY for food and day to day living expenses. It is not a crisis situation if you can't afford presents.

This afternoon or first thing tomorrow morning ring the JCP Crisis Loan section and ask for a review of the decision. I realise it's often very difficult to get through to them but if you really can't get through on the phone try ringing the Independent Review Service www.irs-review.org.uk/index.html. In emergency situations they can help to escalate claims and might even contact the JCP on your behalf.

Oh, I hadn't realised. I've not been in work since last week so I've not had to contact them.

If it's absolutely vital both the the police and the emergency Social Services team have the DWP emergency telephone number

Assuming the OP is in Aberdeen he'll find his JC+ services available as per normal until 5pm on the 24th, re-opening 9am on the 29th.

As you have a computer you can send a free e card to your relatives..
