If you are on benefits and take Eye Q fish oils you can buy them for half price from Equasym, the manufacturers.

I have the form here if anyone wants it emailed to them.

its also worth asking your GP if he will prescribe it, some will!!!!
I think you mean Equazen however as Eyeque liquid citrus is £9.99 for 200ml even at half the price is still works out at a much poorer value product than Zipvit OJ OMEGA 3 JUICE A216j which gives you 360ml for £5.95 and which most people find (apart from a few who can't stand the flavour) perfectly satisfactory. It does taste better straight from the fridge and if you have something ready to drink to wash it down no probs. Possibly better to take before you breakfast as this will send it on it's way and avoid the fishy burbs.

  • this has been a really useful thread as one of my sons has aspergers.

I really wanted to ask Ted a question if he reads this.

I was reading with interest your post & think I understand correctly that you need cholecalciferol tablets to take with the omega 3 juice in the winter? I was just wondering if this is available in liquid form as my son won't swallow tablets. His behaviour is not too good at the moment & it sounded like this was worth a try.

    many thanks.

My son ( age 16 in april) has always had very bad concentration problems. He also has this problem with not being able to take tablets. I also have suspected for some time,(5/6 years) that he may have a mild form from the autism spectrum.( if thats the right words to use)He definitely has an attention deficit disorder and this has been recognised by an educational physchologist in primary school. At his age my main concern is getting him through his gcse`s and would appreciate any advice on what i could give him in liquid form. I have just started my 3 year old son on omega 3 because he shows blatant poor concentration symptoms and also is showing signs of being hyperactive.

  • I would just like to say a HUGE thanks to the op for starting this post & to everyone who advised them as after reading this I put in a claim for DLA for my son & this morning received a letter from them saying that he has been awarded higher rate personal care & lower rate mobility. This is going to make such a difference to the quality of my sons life. So thank you so much everyone, I can't really put into words how I feel at the moment though! :T
  • hi Sandymogs, thank you very much, I am going to ring about the carers allowance in the morning.

have you had anything from the family fund for your son? I hope you don't mind me asking but I don't know anything about them, I'm only just finding out about things thanks to this site!

Forgot to mention that if you care for someone on the higher rate of care of DLA - you could get Carers Allowance too.

you can claim carers allowance if the person you look after gets middle OR higher rate of the care component of DLA. The carer has to fulfil certain conditions such as looking after the disabled person 35+ hours a week and can only earn a small amount (£82ish pounds?)
  • thank you zziggi & sandymogs

my son still has major toileting problems so I understand what you're going through sandymogs!

Thank you for the family fund info I am going to give it a go, it feels a bit strange asking for things though! I know my son would love a trampoline so he would be over the moon if he got one. Do they visit you at home?

Unfortunately I had to sell the car last year due to financial difficulties, you may have seen I post alot on the DFW board & am just starting a dmp with CCCS but as soon as this has finished a car is one of the things I want to save for. So the blue badge info could come in really useful.

Thank you again, everyone here is so helpful :)
