Surely people aren't surprised that this Labour Government has dragged us down to its knees? What did you expect?

Worst Prime Minister we have everr had? That's a bit strong, don't you think? He's the worst we've had for a fair while, but we've had much worse. I wouldn't say he was as bad as Neville Chamberlain, for example. There were dark days under both parties in the seventies, also.
The government started out with the best intentions, but I think Brown's stubbornness while chancellor probably didn't help. Refusing to allow Tony Blair to carry out the public service reforms he wanted was rather dogmatic, Brown preferred to keep taxing, borrowing and throwing money at problems when more efficient services really should have been the order of the day. Because of this we are in a poor state to cope with the recession.
I guess any fool can run an economy during a boom, but it takes astonishing naivety to run up huge debts during that period, simply because you mistakenly believe you have single-handedly abolished boom and bust. There is such a thing as an economic cycle. Consequently, I don't have much confidence in Brown to handle the bust.Saved over £20K in 20 years by brewing my own booze.

Don't go voting for any wacky or extreme parties as it is not a secret ballot (the ballot papers are numbered and the number is entered against your name)
For the people who said this was not true, how did the Labour candidate know my mother voted Labour when he called is the vote is secret? I opened the door and he said (assuming I was her) 'will you be voting Labour again Mrs xxx'..... suffice to say we never saw him again....
He walked up the path striking her name off the list. :rotfl: But how did he know who she voted for? 0 -

They keep a record of how you've said you'll vote in the past, and then feed through the marked register of whether you actually voted, and assume that if you said you were going to vote Labour in, say, 2001, and actually voted, then it was Labour.
Beyond that, "will you be voting for me again" is just trying to reinforce a pattern, rather than encouraging you to think openly. I'd certainly phrase it that way to people I thought were supporters, whereas I'd ask people who weren't "have you thought about how to vote this time?"Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0 -
But how did he know who she voted for?
All parties keep lists of who they think is voting for them. A whole industry is built on trying find out how people will vote, or what they think. The problem is that the industry then goes on to predict the result, and people, being as they are, may well be influenced by that. Hence you get claims that 'Voting for X is a wasted vote.' What bullocks!
I never reveal my number, voting intentions or anything to any of them, or to anyone else. I wish more people were like me. Unfortunately, the minute most folk are lured into a discussion they give clues. It isn't X-Factor, so I don't mind who wins, so long as I get to choose who I want, or to spoil my paper if I feel like it.
It's democracy, innit?0 -
I 'love' that feeling when you chat to someone new about say the weather, and within two minutes they are telling you the problem with England and how all them immigrants should be sent home, and single mothers... etc.Unfortunately, the minute most folk are lured into a discussion they give clues.
And rather than get into an argument because there's no point you try to distract their vitriol onto last nights TV or other such banality. Slightly odd how such people assume everybody thinks like them, or maybe they just don't care.0 -

Your number's on the register. All you achieve by not giving it to the people asking for it at the polling station is that they'll come round later to remind you to vote, because you won't be on their list of people who've already done so...Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0 -

I do marginally prefer him to Blair.0 -
considering so many people are daiily mail bloaters...results not really a surprise
you could hav asked 'who do you always vote for' and the result would be more or less the same
polls that ask a wider audience such as mori etc are usually more close to the mark but asking peopleon a money site omplaing etc etc and blaming the government for ther own stupid mistakes (the buy to etters, the credit card monsters) isnt common sense
but at least the tory brigade can churn out a sntty nosed grin in ther belief that davie pawnstar mite win
me....im happy with laor, content to the eyeballs.....just hurry up an tighten up the hunting bill ..ps otis ferry haha happy belated xmas and new year....banged up till march ha......an then som more if he gets found guilty0 -

Not so. It never happens. I've been here over 20 years and I think they all imagine I'm a lost cause!0
