If you go to google you can do a search for Anti Spyware reviews.

Hi
In my opinion the best Antispyware software is Spyware Doctor. Its not free (costs £19.95), but having compared it with all the other software on the market (eg Spybot, Ad-aware, Microsoft Anti Spyware etc), it always comes out on top. You can purchase it from: https://www.pctools.com
Hope this helps.

i just use microsoft Anti spyware, spybot s&d and ad-aware0

Another vote for Spyware Doctor - appreciate it costs a bit, but you get what you pay for. Nice and easy to use as well.0

Ditto.
The combination of those 3 seems to pick up pretty much everything, as long as the Ad-Aware and SpyBot definitions files are kept bang up to date.0 -
Yep Spyware Doctor vote from me too. It's very good, although does use up a little more resources than other anti-spyware apps.
Counterspy is another good, and slightly cheaper equivalent."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

I use Prevx which is free and seems to do the job.
I notice it's not included in any reviews.
Anyone know its good & bad points?

Coincidently, last night I downloaded Spyware Doctor and I'm certainly glad that I did! Read loads of reviews on the best Anti-spyware and they all pointed to Spyware Doctor. I was previously using Ewido and thought my PC was clean - how wrong can you be? I downloaded the trial version for free (which detects but does not remove spyware) and it found a whopping 202 parasites!!! Needless to say I now have the full version and find it very, very simple to use. It has an on-guard facility - prevention, rather than cure - but my favourite aspect of it is that it gives you a complete lowdown of the spyware itself: who made it, what it does etc. Because of that, I quickly noticed that the majority of parasites on my PC entered via Internet Explorer. Time to move over to Firefox, me thinks!!If I had 8 hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend 6 hours sharpening my axe0

Forgive me if Im wrong here But Prevx isnt an anti-spyware programme?
It is designed to be a zero day anti intrusion type software which hopefully prevents unautorised software being put onto your computer.
It is another line in your security but a programme such as AdAware SE or Spybot S&D or Microsoft Antispyware will add another layer of antispyware protection.Dont waste a perfectly good present worrying about the future!0
