ok a bit of a personnel question, sorry if it offendes anyone, was wondering the other day, what does every who gets dla use it for? we get high rate for both care+mobility, but opted not to take on a mobility car, thought it was to much hassle so we both bought 2nd hand clios(myself and wife)we use ours to pay our mortgage and do up the house,as the way we see it our disabled son will never leave home so might as well get it the way we want it,we extended his bedroom a few years back(got a 3/4 grant from age concern we payed 1/4) put in a small sitting room and walk in shower room /toilet,and have recently put on a conservatory for a bit of peice when sons watching tv,so it all goes to benefit him in the long run, whats everyone else use it for?
Live in my shoes for a week, then tell me your lifes hard!

hiya,
my husband get the high rate for mobility and low rate for care,
we have just picked out a car and that is all sorted.
the money goes into the current account so usually its all swallowed up by bills anyways (mortgage etc) so pretty much just into the account towards everything,

i get higher rate care and low rate mobility for both my sons, some of the money goes on running the car, some of it pays for a sitter now and again, to give me a few hours respite, and some pays for the extras that make life for the boys and myself, eg days out etc, to keep them entertainedenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

My son who has Autistic Spectrum disorder gets high rate care and low rate mobility. I use it for weekly one to one tuition to help him cope with school issues, a 'buddy' to take him out to cinema/town or whatever a couple of times per month to help with social skills. It also helps me to keep the car going and it has enabled me to change my work arrangements so that I can support him more appropriately eg getting him to and from school. It helps me to replace the things he breaks/damages and I can buy him a few extras to support his interests/studies.0

I get HRM, LRC and IB.
I'm lucky I have a partner who works full time, it's still tight as I worked up until early this year (I do hope to start again next year).
I use the money to keep my car on the road, I decided against a mobility car as mine was relatively new. I have someone do my ironing as it's one of those jobs that I can't do. It also pays for those extras that help.0
