2 nights in london 25th/26th Jan

Wondered if anyone could help me with a trip im trying to plan for 25th/26th Jan? We're travelling down to a signing at Oxford Circus HMV (W1D) and looking for a place to stay for two nights - ideally a 3 star as close as possible to the shop (without getting into ridiculous money) but somewhere pretty close (up to 2 miles away) will do if it is cheaper. Theres two adults looking for a double room, doesn't matter about breakfast.

Any help would be fab!

Try the Regent Palace as someone has mentioned before. Check on their own site first as they offer reasonable prices on ensuite rooms.

How about Travelodge Wembley? £26 per night. 5 mins to Hanger Lane tube - Central line to Oxford Circus.
  • How long would it take to get to oxford street from there and do you know how we would do it/how much would it cost? would it be a taxi job if we wanted to arrive in oxford street say 5/6am? I don't know much of London at all!

Looks like the first train is 5.30 - takes 30 mins - direct train. Single cash fare is now £3 I think.

  • Try looking on lastminute.com

You can search on London - then narrow results down to "closest to Oxford Circus". There is a 4* mystery hotel .64km from Oxford Circus that costs £79 including breakfast. A 3* that is just under 1KM away for £52. At least then you dont have to be up at the crack of dawn and relying on the tube system to work (check there is not a strike on).

Without getting into all the anonymous hotels in Bayswater (there are hundreds - none of which I know but you will get something for under £50 though there definition of 3* can be flexible) I dont think there will be that much that is cheaper centrally. Try late rooms and expedia though.

If you stay away from the centre, you miss out on having a free walk about londonthe night before, the stress of getting the underground, plus the cost of getting there and getting back - and then the next day of travelling back into the centre.

If you stay in Wembley though, there are loads of cheapish Indian restaurants - Wembley Tandoori is meant to be good (quite where it is in relation to the travelodge I dont know). Dont forget to add travel costs, breakfast onto the total cost for any room further than walking distance away.

The Ibis up at Euston is sometimes cheap (though is usually £80 per night) - very cheap veg. indian places across the road are really good. A taxi would be economically feasible (if you can find one) - otherwise it is a good 45 minute hike - and you could find a nice cafe to have breakfast along the way. If you cant get for substantially less than £80 go for one of the lastminute offers.

It's on another thread on here but I booked a London Hilton with lastminute.com at the weekend for £75 a night for a deluxe room! It's Bloomsbury way but not that far a walk (and it's not a bad walk in that neck of the woods anyway). It was a top secret hotel but I'm pretty happy since their standard rate for the room is about £150! No breakfast included though.

    DON'T GO TO WEMBLEY!!!!!

That travelodge there, & the holiday Inn just round the corner is rough.

    Laterooms is your best bet.

Wembley TL 'rough'? I thought it was brand new?
  • I've found a TL in convent garden for £75, anyone got any comments on that one? It seems a little closer. Thanks for all the info lily the pink and everyone else, if you can think of anything else Im still interested. Laterooms seemed a bit of a disappointment, not that cheap.
