When is the best time for reduced food over Christmas?

All the supermarkets will be closed on Christmas Day so there must be some fantastic reduced food bargains to be had this week. As I am new to this, does anyone know how to get the best bargains on whoopsies, reduced food etc over the Christmas period?

I heard that Christmas eve at about an hour before closing is a good timeTaking baby-steps :beer:0

At the tesco where my DH's aunt works, they reduce the fresh turkeys etc on Christmas eve at 12, then further at 2 and then final reductions at 4...
At 4pm last year we got an organic huge turkey crown for about £2.50 I think, and froze it till new years day... Don't forget you can always cut them in half before you freeze, will do a few Sunday lunches....0 -
My local ASDA is closing at 5pm. I will be there at 4pm.0

I have not looked this year yet, but last year lots of the gammons had a sell by date of 26th December. This means that any left will get reduced.0

I meet my mum at Asda at around 3pm on Xmas Eve. We always have a "pot luck" tea made up of all our non freezeable bargains which usually includes various pre-prepared salads and random bakery items. We've found that over the past few years there has been less of the heavily reduced freezeable stuff - maybe Asda are managing their stock a bit better, or it could be lots of MSE-ers are out snapping up the bargains!
Every year they've been giving the sprouts away for mere pennies per kg:D0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0

Do you think it'd be too risky not getting my turkey til christmas eve then maybe getting it really cheap? I wanted a turkey crown but I might end up with something rubbish if I wait. Oooh can't decide. I don't want to end up with no turkey! :rotfl::heart: Think happy & you'll be happy
