  • Amazing how everyone is so productive and how some of you have done so much stuff already. I have been spending the morning watching the Hayley Mills film :) and am now watching the football, lazy day I think!

    I have checked online banking and moved some money around and need to go out in a bit to Home Bargains, but that will not be a big spend (I LOVE that shop, anyone else a fan?!). Might also nip into the supermarket when I am out to get a few things to make a vegetable pie with (got lots of veggies that need using up).

    Apart from that I am hoping to do lots of Christmas decluttering today :)

    Have a good day everyone.

    Norfolk Jim, have a look on the tax board, there are some current and some ex HMRC bods on there.
    They should be able to advise re trading losses.

    Thanks, Yes I'm planning to have a hunt through the tax pages during my Christmas holiday. I'm sure there will be a few golden nuggets in there.

    I do this with all the forums and it feels like treasure hunting. Theres a lot that isnt any use but from time to time I find a tip or some info that is worth its weight in gold. Better than watching TV. And sometimes you can help others too. Bliss.

    Have a looksie on the gambling board....you have to make a deposit on a couple of the bingo sites and then you can get a free daily scratchcard. Then you can take your initial deposit out and slowly build up the scratch winnings.
    Be careful not to use too many sites, as they are operated by the same companies ;)

    Good morning! :D

    Wishing everybody to get well soon!! Especially SM! I hope you get a chance to get pampered lots!!

    Today I am planning to
    - check online banking and update spreadsheets
    - do washing in 30 and hang to dry
    - lunch and supper from leftovers
    - already done scratchcards, curly quizzes and racecaller
    - need to sort out id stuff to one scratchcard site to get money out
    - figure out with one bingo site how to get money out
    - have NSD
    - sort out last of the xmas cards and presents that need to be posted/handed out tomorrow
    - make a shopping list for Wednesday as going to bargain hunting to Mr T and at the same time stock up with all the stuff I am running out of

    About the losses: I have been self employed and in employment in tax years 05-06, 06-07 and 07-08 and have been able to reduce the losses from the income from employment and hence get a refund of taxes. Also if you pay NI through your employment you can claim back the NI from self employment if you have made a loss. First two years my losses were from franchise that ended up costing me a lot of legal fees due to greedy franchisor who started to change rules in the middle of the game and the last year was when I was purchasing stock for my book selling business. Any good ideas of earning extra money please please PM me as I am now full time student trying to earn living with self employment. I was an accountant in my previous life.

    Have a look through this thread for the instructions on how to do the daily scratchcard.
  • Ventured out for some shopping - soups, fruit, yoghurts................just enough to keep me going for a bit (under a tenners worth from Aldi and Lidl);
    Will be checking on here and CAG for some advice about Egg (closed credt card agreement a month after ramping the APR up - apparently they've done that to everyone!);
    Also responding to Egg's PPI letter;
    Drafting a response to the FOS who have asked about hardship.
    Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
