HP laptop Wi Fi problem

hi hope someone can help
I have a HP G6000 lap top and something seems to have gone wrong with my WI FI. It just is nt picking up the wi fio signal from my O2 router. The signal is fine as my girlfriends lap top is connecting without problem. I am currently connected with the ethernet cable so can still access the net.
I have tried a system restore to a few days ago but is not helped. I have tried using the in built wizard for wi fi and it just keeps saying plug in the cable and then does nt offer any solutions.
Everything was working fine til two eveninhs ago but the wi fi just stopped working. There is a switch on the front of the lap top that when it is Switched "on" sends an orange light to blue but this is staying orange at whatever position it is at.
I m now at a loss as to what has happened. It may well be a hardware problem with the lap top but is there anything i can do with control panel etc to rectify the problem
Many thanks in advance

If the Wireless light is not changing to blue, then it sounds like your wireless adaptor is not working correctly. Try re-installing the driver for this device. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

If the orange light is supposed to be blue but is orange then it's either a hardware issue or a wifi driver issue.

go to control panel
then Network and internet connections
then Network connections
right click on your wifi connection and select repair.0 -

That won't change an orange light to blue! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

i'm with expresso , control panel , then system , then device manager under the hardware Tab
look down the list for network adapters
right Click on your wireless card and then uninstall it , it will then reinstall itself straight away and normally correct any driver issuesEx forum ambassador

Silly question but is your wifi turned on? I know with some HP's its pretty easy to disable the wifi using a button on the keyboard/laptop somewhere. If so it won't pick anything up.0

Hi i have an Hp dv 2000 series laptop and it developed the same fault 2 weeks before christmas last year the problem was the wifi card inside the laptop as mine was still under warranty i contacted Hp Tech support. It is a known issue with some Hp laptops i phoned them on the friday they collected it on the following monday and it was sent back to me within 10 days. Whilst they had it they also replaced the motherboard so if it is still under warranty it may be a good idea to contact Hp. If not you can replace the card yourself quite cheaply if i recall it was a broadcom card, hope this helps and good luck.0

Oh Dear, another HP laptop with the wireless problem !!
This is a known issue with certain HP and Compaq laptops (just do a Google search).
I had a DV9000 series laptop, new in March 2008, which had a motherboard replaced, 2 wireless cards replaced, several bios flashes and eventually was working ok. Then the keys started to fall off so it went back to PCW and I managed to get a FULL £700 refund.
Get it looked at by whoever sold it to you.0
