Thanks, can you tell me what the advantage is of these over steel or acrylic?

Any idea why my friend's metal baths kept going rusty?

I think you'll have to ask your friend what she was doing to the bath to make it go rusty

It may of been a poor quality bath  or she may have used abrasive cleaner on it when cleaning

The bath I fitted for my mum about 6 years ago, is the same today as it was when I fitted it. I do know that she cleans it with a weak solution of washing up liquid / water / and lemon juice, and she only uses a large dish cloth.

Untill I moved to this house I only ever had cast iron baths & they always looked as good as new. In one house I lived in we decided to refurbish the bathoom & we ended up replacing only the handbasin & wc as the plumber said in his opinion we'd be crazy to replace the bath as it was in great condition & it would be throwing good money away to take it out & replace it with something similar.

Now I have a plastic bath & I hate it. I looks so cheap & inferior to me, even though I know it wasn't a from a cheap range. If I intended to stay in this house I'd have it taken out & a cast iron one put in it's place, but I intend moving either later this year or early next year so don't think it's worth the outlay.

When I house hunt I shall be paying more attention to the actual fittings in the bathroom & not be swayed by something that looks good & stylish on the surface. :o
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
