  • Hi all,
I've also had a number of phone calls from 1st credit with an automated voice asking me to ring a 0870 number (which I've ignored as the calls didn't give any details on why they wanted me to call them) and now a letter threatening me with legal proceedings to recover £624 which they claim I owe CashEuroNet UK - I've never dealt with either company before and I know I don't have any debts so I've forwarded all the details onto the OFT as suggested by an earlier post. I'll be ignoring every letter\call from them!

    What a bunch of scammers!!!

It was about two years ago when they started sending letters to my OH. he was in iraq at the time so i opened it, read it and chucked it, it looked like junk/ scam mail t me (not very professional, use of odd sentences and just very unprofessional) and i knew my OH had never ever had a credit card ( said it was a debt on a credit card with... natwest i think... never ever had anything to do with natwest) got a few more letters and i thought something wasnt right but just kept ignoring. then a letter came from a another debt collection saying the debt had been past to them, then a few weeks or so later got a letter from ANOTHER company, saying the debt had been passed on, thats when we decided to do something, so wrote to them asking for.... whatever it was a cca or something (can't remember, i got advice from the consumer forums!) with the postal order and recorded delivery and all, got a letter back saying they had noted our letter and have heard absalutly nothing from them since, and thats been nearly half a year or so since we sent it.

It did really worry us at the time, it makes me sick because i'm sure alot of old people will probably end up getting these letters and worry themselves sick about them and end up paying. It's disgusting.

Cynical me, but I notice the s.a.r mentioned in the letter on the first page.....

If they send out 1000 letters, say 70% of people who know no better may pay them for a s.a.r, that's £7000 with minimal cost to them.

This WILL be my debt free year! :T

You can track the postal order. Get confirmation that it has been cashed - that is the whole point of them.

And do send a CCA request.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Report them to OFT, within your complaint refer to the following debt collection guidance

2.2 Examples of unfair practices are as follows:

    e. failing to provide debtors or creditors with information on status of debts, for example, not providing requested balance statements when reasonably requested

  • Today I received a letter from 1st Credit claiming that I owe Casheuronet £624. This is not true. Having read the earlier posts on this board I have sent copies of the letter to the OFT and the police.

Thanks to you all for the information and advice.

We must do all we can to get these scum taken down.
