I bought a pair of slippers from Asda. They were not reduced but labeled £3.50. I glanced at the till roll a couple of days later only to find i had been charged £6.85.
I rang the store and was assured that I could have a refund even though the slippers had been given to a friend as a small gift. Customer Services refused the refund without the slippers. I rang the Manager and said surely the code on the till roll would confirm the incorrect price. He agreed and said he will refund plus £2.00 which is a good result. From now I will check all till rolls no matter how long.

This happened to me when I bought some men's pyjama tops and bottoms seperately in the sale for £1 each. I got home took all the labels off and then checked my receipt only to find that I had been charged over £6 each! I took all the bits back to the store and they were really good and gave me a refund plus £2 for having to travel back there. The sets were only £4.00 each new, so for 1 top and one bottom I was only saving £2 anyway.0

do an approx count as you walk around the shop to help yourselfs ,its good in that you know exactly what your paying , you get to suprise the lady on the till and its good to exercise the brain as its not easy to remember the total when your looking at everything0

I do normally do this and I did wonder why the bill was so high, but my DS has a terrible habbit of talking to me when I get to the till, I nearly forgot my cashback once and had to go back and get it!!!!0

Glad you got your refund, lemontree.
I never, ever leave any shop without checking my receipt.
Supermarkets have so many bogof and other deals that it's only common sense to make sure you've not been overcharged.
They also sometimes leave 'offer' tickets on after they've expired and you'll be charged the full price if you're not vigilant.0 -
I always check special offers have been correctly priced but this was not a special offer. I always do an approximate count but this was one of 49 items but thank you all for your comments.0

Asda do seen bad for putting a certain price or offer on the shelf and then it not scanning through. Last week I bought three or four things on offer (BOGOF, 2 for £2, that kind of thing) and about half of them didn't go through. Thank heaven that OH will always go and get the money back lol!0

I used to work on tills at Asda.
Some items you need to type in as an override, some have barcodes you just scan in at the reduced rate. I did notice that the shop floor people didn't take out expired special offers after they had expired.
Asda's good with customers services in my opinion as when things do go wrong they're usually good at making it right.0 -
This also applies to The Co-Op, where they often have items on special but don't discount them at the till.
