Sainsburys Car Wash

Ok I went shopping at Sainsburys, had a nice extra points voucher :)

Then off to fill up and thought about havbing a quick car wash. SO I did and then when I was filling up I noticed part of bumber had "dropped" off. I saw it in the car wash and went to go get it. Not the car wash had ripped part of it off and yes it was cracked befor ebut serviceable and the bits that clean the car must have got caught in it and then pulled the side section off leaving some of it on. The manager said as it was damaged it was unlikely they would do anything and why didn't I wash it myself.

I didn't see why it would do that to be honest and I don't see why they can't pay at least some of the cost. I have heard sainsburys want to have excellent customer service, well we shall see.

Where do I stand.

Also, a bit tongue in cheek but it didn't even clean the back of my car.
Nice to save.

I dont know on this as if you have actually told the manager that there was already a crack in the bumper?

Go straight to the head office/customer services with the complaint - often they give in when the store wont!

You want Sainsburys to pay you when you knowingly took your broken car into a car wash?

Please explain why they owe you anything.

I agree on that, Sainsburys dont owe him anything, if the car was already broken....but on the other hand it wasnt totally broken but it was after it had been through the car wash....I can see both sides here..must be in the car wash...hehehehe...sorry my dry sense of humour!

  • I would write, explaining that the bumper may not have been in brand new condition but that the car wash appears to have applied force which has damaged the bumper so much that ot came off. They should at least appologies and offer some form of compensation, even if it is just part payment towards the bill for fixing it. They will also be interested to know that the filling station attendent was less than interested.

I wouldn't hide the fact that it was already slightly cracked, the problem is that the car wash has completley broken the bumper off. Be polite and ask for compensation, I am sure that they will be willing to work something out.

Most supermarkets have "disclaimers" , for loss or damage...........but I think a call to head office wouldnt do any harm :D

Eh! If you used a powerwasher on it would that have caused it to fall off?? If you knew it was damaged then you really don't have a leg to stand on, accept you made a mistake and stop trying to get someone else to pay for your mistakes (or next time don't be silly enough to mention that it was already broken. Doh!)

I wonder what woudl have happened if your cracked car bumper had damaged the car wash?

You don't say which part of the bumper it was but the MOT is very strict about bumpers and it is likely that you would have to replace it for MOT (whenever that may be). You obviously have a sense of humour .. I would just chalk it up to one of those things that happen and it is always a good story when you are out with your mates (of course embellished to the point were the front half of your car got ripped off :D:D)

  • My wheel fell off my car the other day!! do you think I would get some compensation from Sainsburys?

Now how to get the car there on three wheels!!! Mmmmmmmmm

Looking for compensation when you knowingly took a car with a defective bumper into the car wash is a little rich don't you think.
