Wii remote, not picking up signal?

Please help, my gf went to play her Wii last night, was working fine the day before but now it's acting strangely.

The sensor will pick up the remote while you're in the menu, selecting the game & player options etc, but when you actually go to play the game the motion sensor stops completely but the buttons are working.

She went to play tennis on the Wii sports, she could make the Mii throw the ball into the air to serve by pressing the A or B button, but it wouldn't swing. She has tried 2 different games with the same result, and tried with 2 different controllers & checked the batteries.

This one has me stumped. Any advice?

Sounds to me like the remotes work fine but the sensors just not reading them properly. Have you checked the sensor connector and cable thoroughly? I dont have a wii myself so not entirely sure of the connections but id be looking at 'bent pins' or suchlike

Connections have been checked, box has been switched off an' all that.
I'd understand if the signal wasn't being picked up all the time, but it's fine when using menus, just not when in a game. You can click 'pause' and move the curser round then, but click 'resume' and nothing!

    It's all so odd!!:o

  • is she useing the right wimote if you have more then 1 its setup for each player . I had this problem on wifit till my 15 yer old pointed it out
  • She tried both remotes, swapped batteries etc.

The remote works fine right up until you start a game, then it won't pick up the signal, buttons work thou. As soon as you click menu, it's working again.
    Resume game and nothing!!

  • try resetting the motion sensor up again as if starting from a brand new machine
  • Thanks for your help, I also searched online and found a couple of solutions on the net...
One was to press the 'sync' buttons on the remote & the Wii console, which didn't work
And the other was to turn the remote so buttons faced down, then slap down hard into my other hand...which worked!!! :D So both remotes now work!!

Thought I'd post in case anyone has the same problem :) thanks for all your help thou peeps :)
