Well selling chicks on Ebay is a non starter as there a loads similar on there NOT selling for 99p so not worth the time and wouldnt make much money for the charity. Will have a quick poll round office tomorrow and see what they think about actually selling them at work.Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

my mum knitted chicks for charity a couple of years ago and i managed to sell quite a few of them to work mates, think i sold them for a squid each and people were more than willing to buy them.
good luck with your fund raising it's for a very good cause.0 -
a couple of other ideas are:
get a cute bear and chose 20 or so names and put them in boxes on a sheet, and people 'buy' a name to win the bear. Obviously you've already picked the name and sealed it in an envelope.
same can also be done with a map of an island and people buy squares to find the treasure (the prize), when they're all sold you reveal where the treasure is.0 -
Lemontree the name the bear idea is great, thanks :T, dont know why I hadnt thought of it!
Well I had an embarassing incident this morning but know i think about it I am actually quite glad it happened. I went into Primark as I was going to get a 2nd pair of jeans as its a pain to keep washing the 1 pair I have. I cant afford them so thought I will put them on my CC until the 15th when I get paid and can pay it straight back. So I pootle round and picked up a pair of stretch jeans, a red jumper for work, 2 cute polo shirts for pip, a long sleeve tshirt and a nice check shirt for me. Go to the till to pay, woman rings it all up £33 please she says and i go into my purse to find the CC isnt in there!I knew I didnt have enough on my debt card so had to tell I had forgot my card and make a hasty retreat!!
While I did need all bar the shirt Im still quite glad that I didnt rack up another £33 on the CC even though I know I would pay it straight off again.
Things happen for a reason!!
I just checked my friends fundraising page and without even having the work awareness day she is up to £569!! Which will be doubled so well over £1000 for SANDS already which is awesome! :j:jDebt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

Some great ideas for fund raising. Hope you make loads of cash. One I use to do was a water or wine stall. Fill lots of empty wine bottles with water, seal the tops and wrap up in paper. Have bottles of wine which are wrapped. Mix them all up on the table, charge a couple of quid and peeps stand a chance of winning a bottle of wine.

oh my sister once raised about 200 with a barrow of booze, people donated bottles of various booze (bet there's loads of chrissy pressies people didn't really want), which are placed in decorated wheel barrow (or other such thing) and then you sell raffle tickets at a £1 to win the contents (not necessarily the barrow itself). It always was a winner for their todler group. The other one was to do a quiz - on a form that people buy (so you've already got your money) then you offer a prize to the one returned with the most correct answers which is pulled out of a hat if there's more than one. Usually gets them in excess of £50 and not a lot of people ever return the quiz sheet for the prize. Usually they did it with a theme eg kids tv programs through the ages or music etc and there were about 100 questions0

Mum2one thats why I originally started to make them! Possibly why I am also a little reluctant to sell them at work as then I would need to think up new presents for about 8 people:eek:
Lemontree - quiz is another good idea and we had beat you to it with the bottle raffle!
So what have I done today?
Well I went to Mr Morrisons for the week shop and spent £33. Could have been lower but I sneaked in some cadburys creme eggs £2.69 and also some Dove deodorant because I got a BOGOF voucher here and wanted to use it. It was £2.04 but smells yummy and I got 1 free. I registered with Dove and they sent me a 50p off coupon which I used on a Dove body wash that was on offer for 90p.
Ive started checking here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=38 before i shop so I can see if there are any useful coupons.
I went to visit my friend in hospital today. She has had a massive op on her jaw and they basically broke it and reset it and shaved bone off  she was in surgery for 6 hours. She is really badly swollen, so much I didnt recognise her at first. She cant talk or eat and is really struggling to swallow even water. The nurse came and said she needed to drink more and then just walked off, didnt offer to help or wait for a reply or anything! I had to help her as she has to insert a syringe with the liquid in into her mouth and because she has no feeling she has to use a mirror. Surely thats not right that she has to do it without the help from a nurse or HCA?
Off for a look see on here and then bed I think.

I'm so sorry to hear about the way ur friends being treated, I'm afraiad thats the modern day NHS, not enough staff, 12 months ago my aunts mother was in hosp, she'd had a stroke, with complications they told her to drink, she couldn't use the one side of her body, they would put the drink out of reach or push the table away, from the fact of not having time to stop and help, it was my aunt making sure she drank.
When mum was in 4yrs ago, she'd asked for dressing for her legs, she's got cellitius but because the infection had turned into blood poisoning it was a hosp job, as the medical ward was full she was put on gyne, her legs had got blistered and were in worst state, the nurses wouldn't anything as she wasn't a gyne patient....... but that didn't stop them wakeing her that niight at 2am to see if she had a lighter so they could light the candles on acake for one of the nurses.
The next day I played hell and back xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I have an Easter Chocolate quiz sheet (and the answers). Its a list of 50 advertising jingles for chocolates requiring you to identify the product then marked the sheets and gave a tin of chocolates, donated by Sainsburys after much nagging, to the winner. We left them in the local shops, churches and schools with the proviso that they were returned with £1 attached by a specific date.
