I'm not certain if I will receive any rate confirmation letter but the clerk told me I would. Fingers crossed.0

I called yesterday & set up a monthly saver. The man who set it up gave me sort code & account number & assured me that I would get 7.75% if I made a deposit by transfer from an account with another bank by the end of December. He said it would be acceptable to make a small initial deposit - so long as it was over £20 - to mke sure I had the correct details & then a subsequent deposit up to a maximum total of £250.
Later in the day I went to see the account online & it was showing as set up. Having noticed the 6% showing on the Barclays web site I rang a call center & was told that I would get 5.84% AER I raised a query / complaint & was told that " a retail bank officer will contact you within five days". I am not holding my breath. I will try to deposit some cash - after all even 5.84% is better than most arates available at present. As for the confusion - well I find it quite inexcusible. It is grotesque that such a large institution cannot get its act together & ensure that consistant information on account interest rates is provided to customers.0
