How does fixed penalty points affect insurance?

Speeding fines with 3 points (SP30) do not necessarily increase your premium. However I understand that TS offences are considered more serious by insurers.0

I have just found out that i have received 3 penalty points after being caught by a speed camera. Despite being so careful these things happen. How will it make a difference on my insurance does anyone know. This is my 1st offence in 30 yrs of driving. Guess what speed cameras don't help road safety, as i will now have to spend more time looking at my speedometer and less time looking at the road ahead. How can that be safe, but can't risk more points.0

Do some dummy quotes on line with and without 3 points.
Points are common, so just 3 won't make much difference.0 -

What, like Sabre, who have one of the best combined ratios in the business?:think:0 -
well ive just had 3 points for doing 38 in 30, and i thought id check out price for new policy on my car.
normally me and mrs are on it, it comes in at £600 yr roughly.
ive just checked and its now dropped to £474 a year.
yes i gained an extra 1 yrs no claims bonus to it, surely it wouldnt drop that much. my mrs is only 22 aswell.
well in my opinion dont hide and points.0 -
A single SP30 will get a small load if anything. Your other half being a year older and an extra year of NCD will decrease your premium by more than an SP30 will put it up. 22 is a lot cheaper to insure than 21!
Why didn't you just go on the speed awareness course?
Most insurers don't give a hoot about SP30s because lots of people get them (literally millions are issued a year) and quite frankly they could happen to anyone. They charge you a bit more basically because they can. Getting a lot of them, or getting one of the more serious traffic offences, will start getting expensive.0
