Home Starter on Orange

Hi
My brother wants to join Orange broadband on the home starter plan at £10 month as he is quite new to the internet and having just retired it's something for him to get interested in so that would be quite enough for him at the moment ~ I am on the Orange Home Select and have never had any problems with them all the time we have been with them right from the Freeserve/Wanadoo days ~ but he hasn't long signed up with BT for the free evening and weekend calls on Option 2 at £10.50 month so if he was to take out the Home Starter plan with Orange they also have free weekend and evening calls and also they take over any day time calls which are cheaper than BT so he wouldn't be making any calls at all with BT as Orange would be taking them over and any he would make in the day before 6.00 would be charged to him on his Orange account and added to his £10 month statement.
Soooooo..... although he would still be paying BT the £10.50 rental would there be any penalty by BT if he doesn't use there service for making any landline calls as they would be taken over by Orange?
Any advice please? as I don't want him to get in a knot over this as he is a worry wart as it is .....

If he has any services with BT like 1571, he'll probably get hit a £1 a month "low usage" charge for it.0

If Orange take over the calls, he should put his BT bill onto the Unlimited Weekend plan (previously Option 1) for £10.50 with paperless billing & direct debit.
As billbennett says, if he has free Answer 1571 or Caller ID, these will become chargeable after Orange take over the calls so cancel them if he doesn't want to pay extra for them.
Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan (previously Option 2) either has an extra monthly fee, or is offered free with a 12 month renewable contract. If he's got the 'free with 12m renewable contract' version, BT are likely to charge a cancellation fee for that part of the package when Orange take over the calls, unless he switches back to Unlimited Weekends (Option 1) at the next annual renewal date and then orders the broadband.0 -
Would he not be better off by using a broadband supplier that does not insist you move your calls, thus leaving his line rental and calls with BT ,and therefore qualifying for free caller display and 1571 voicemail if he uses them, and using www.18185.co.uk for cheap geographical 01/02/03 peak calls, and mobile calls.0
