It's back:T
One of the signals that the great unwashed are getting the message.
Anyone know how long they ran it last time and at what stage of the economic cycle they stopped doing it?
Like the "Mars Bar" inflation/purchasing power index, it is probably a much better barometer of reality than the "spun" figures from the government.0 -

It's not exactly something to cheer about is it? It made my blood run cold when I realised what I was watching. And that was before I saw the job loss figure for 1 week.0 -
I've been waiting for it for 18 months.
It is like Christmas, once it arrives you know the days have stopped getting shorter and spring will be on its way eventually.
Though January is usually the coldest month.0 -
There is still a shortage of good teachers, especially Science, Maths and ICT teachers.
In some areas only - and usually in 'challenging' schools. There is chronic teacher unemployment, so do not be misled by the ads for teacher training. In Scotland, it is not uncommon for 300 teachers to apply for a vacancy. A few jobs in June attracted over 700 applicants. There are currently petitions into the Scottish parliament about the continual training of huge numbers of teachers for whom there are no job prospects.0 -

I'll pick up a college prospectus. Does it come under Health & Social Care? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
It was on Radio 2 yesterday too, that there are a lot of care assistant jobs and such like available throughout the country - minimum wage.
There are always vacancies for care workers.
But they are responsible for the most frail and vulnerable members of society. It's very worrying to think people will turn to this work because they're desperate for a job and not because they have an interest in the well-being of others.
Elderly and seriously ill people will be potentially put at risk from being dependent on staff who are in the work for the wrong reasons.0 -
Well that's MFI gone so more unemployment. I feel really sorry for anyone who suddenly loses their job at this time of year when there are such pressures and expectations. Hopefully they will soon find employment in the new year.

It works for Mandy/Clown to have 'end of the world' messages now from the complicit BBC, so that when Clown calls a quickie election in May/June he can use the politicians deceit of claiming he's averted Armageddon.
Clown will buy jobs until the cows come home by printing money, just so long as he can avert a winter of discontent and the polling stations open with 'only' 250,000 added to the dole.
It matters not to him that England will then have the same economic strategy as Zimbabwe.0 -

My Dad's the other way round. He likes to declare at the end of every June, "darker every day now until Christmas!" (usually to a storm of family abuse, for obvious reasons)...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
