Still undecided on laptop final 2 to choose from buying tomorrow morning HELP :-)

well im still dithering with which one i should get , i still prefer the HP 6735s from ebuyer with the 4gb memory as its only £399 but im wondering if im wasting my money getting it and if i should just go for the toshiba l300-1aq.

http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L300-1AQ/1058205/toshibaShop/reseller/toshibaShop/false/#0

that ones £351 in staples and i think i can get it for around £325 if i try and maybe some free stuff.

or ..... my all time favourite which i cant seem to get out of my head, i think its because its only £50 extra and has double the memory, but do i really need it , can someone tell me if i do need the extra 2gb memory or if its a waste of cash , as i can obviously haggle the toshiba down and the HP is online so i have no chance of haggling and theres no cashback either.

the only other thing i could go for is this..

http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?Description=UK_CL_Laptops+-+Toshiba&CatIds=21797,35750,90634&webid=397647&affixedcode=WW+

in staples for £440 but manager already said he will do for £399 to match HP and i can probably get freebies too, is it as good as HP????? worth the extra squeeze of DH's xmas bonus??? bless him hes given it all to me hes such a fab husband!

Daves no idea on what you need in a laptop and im hardly any better. these are the ones im choosing from which i think have everything id like and need, what i really need is someone who knows what their talking about to say which is the best and why so i can finally get my head round it.

thank you so much for all the help so far this is the biggest purchase ive had made on me from DH ever apart from the house so you can see why im dithering :-)

  • The L300-1AQ doesnt have enough RAM to effectively run Vista so that rules that one out. From the other two I would go for the HP because it has an AMD processor, a SATA hard drive and is a decent brand

thanks, im still trying to fathem out the whole processor differences, i remember someone on here saying avoid celerons at all costs i have no idea why but it stuck in my mind.

whats a SATA hard drive? is that just the brand name? i think i shall probably go for the HP as ive gone back to it so many times, im gutted theyve stopped the £379 one they had it 3 days ago but have run out it was the same but with a different processor , still AMD i think i might ring them and see if they have any more comming in.

    thanks again.

    WHAT UTTER RUBBISH.

2GB RAM is more than enough. My Vista gaming PC only has 2GB of RAM and manages quite fine.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Absolutely unbelievable. Intel have been leaving AMD for dead since they brought out the Core Duos over 2 years ago. ALL LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS ON THE MARKET TODAY HAVE SATA HARD DRIVES.

Please feel free to come back and post when you have a clue.

Vista runs fine on 2gb ram lol.... The AMD in the HP is probably slower than the other laptops, but not noticably. They will all be sata. The toshiba screen has a poor viewing angle, but nice to type on and decent battery life. not used the HP. The ones with 4gb will come with 32bit vista, so you wont get to use the full amount.

Can't go wrong with any of them.

I do have a clue you ******. If you want a laptop that is going to last and going to be able to run multiple programs at the same time then you will need more than 2GB RAM and that is a fact.

ahh right , ive read somewhere you can call microsoft and get the upgrade to 64bit windows vista free , not that id have a clue what to do with it,lol.

when you say a poor viewing angle for the vista what do you mean? i wear glasses all the time so will i struggle in the living room of an evening with the lights off ( new baby sleeping so have to have lights off) , i did like the HP's matt screen i take it the toshiba's the shiny style??

do you know if toshiba's are good laptops? i had an acer before which has been nothing but trouble and i worry with a few brands especially those you see millions of reconditioned ones of theres a reason the original owners dont have them ;)
