odd....I've had a white one for years and I've heard nothing about this change....I had a 6 month deal on a BT that has just come to an end and it's got an eye-watering APR as of next month so i'm looking to shift it anyway...was wondering if they'll be looking to close me down after that...any advice anyone?

You might still get the letter advising you about the changes. Those changes will become effective after the 22nd february, which is nearly three months away.
I know of the transfer for a year now, and that's why I stopped using the card.
My guess is that because I haven't been using the card for about a year, they decided to wait for me to show my interest in having a new card before sending me one.
In your case, because you have been using the card regularly, they might just send you a new card with the terms annd conds changes.
You should call them and states that you know about the transfer on the 22d february, and ask whether they will close your account or not on that date and whether they will send you a new card. Following their answers, just wait for the new card or closure or if you want to do away with the card, just ask to close the account yourself.

bizarrely...in septmber they were offering BTs that would last until March 2009...I'm also still not clear who owns them...recentish letters still have HSBC group on them...yet the press suggests 338000 accounts were sold to SAV....

yet I called and they wouldn't give any offers because there were "some changes" up in the air....

The letter I've received from HFC Bank Limited definitively states Aviemore as the new owner of the brand Marbles and Bank of Scotland as the issuer of the card.
It looks like they 've decided you are a good customer (someone they can make money from) and wants to keep you. You probably are on the list of people who will have the new card sent automatically on transfer. You will probably get the new card before the transfer date.
It's time for you to decide whether you want a new card or not.
If your credit report is good, look whether any other cards can be of benefit to you.

well.an update...got the letter today saying that I would be getting a new card for February etc and things may change or stay the same....who knows.....

it also referred to a previous letter about the changeover that I never received....

anyway...Aviemore it is and it will no longer be HSBC as the bank which is worth knowing.

Simple curiosity of my part......have you got a balance on the card? As I am not selected as automatically receiving a new card, I am just wondering whether all people with a balance on their card will get automatically a new one. I have the letter they are referring to. Mine is dated november 2007, stating they have agreed to sell Marbles to Aviemore Funding Limited. I believe that's when my APR gone up.
I'm glad they won't send me a new card, I like to have the choice of who I want a card from.
