Marbles-Aviemore-Bank of Scotland question

I just got a letter about my Marbles card. My account will be transferred to Aviemore on 22nd February 2009 and my new card provider will be Bank of Scotland.
If I do nothing, my old account will be closed and I will have to destroy the card.
If I want a new card send to me, with new account, pin and the rest, I have to call Bank of Scotland after the above date.
How is the Bank of Scotland customer service? I understand the call center is in the UK.
Is the BoS online service any good and easy to manage?
I am undecided as whether to get a new card or not, I was quite happy with the service I had from the previous card provider.

It looks like your account isnt automatically set to issue new plastics on migration. I would guess this is for one of two main reasons:

    1. Your account is dormant
    2. Your account is classed as high risk.

I would suggest that the second option in the more likely, as they would probably issue a card and some sort of incentive/offer if your account was dormant. I imagine that they will do some kind of underwriting assessment before issuing you a new card.

The new card issuer is Bank of Scotland, but the accounts have been purchased by SAV Credit - issuers of the Aqua sub-prime card.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
  • 1. I have been a BOS customer (bank account, mortgage and now a credit card) for years and they are great. Customer service is much better than with other companies and any calls I have to make have been answered promptly and dealt with efficiently.

    2. Personally I feel the website could be better, there is nothing wrong with it exactly but I also have a cap one card and think that their website is much better. This is just a personal opinion though and others may disagree.

I have only had my credit card from them for about 3 months though so can't say how good they are for limit increases or anything else for that matter!! I have had no problems so far though!!

    Hope this helps :D

Last time I've used the card was 11 months ago, so the first option would be correct. They states on the letter that they want to make sure I want a new card, so I have to call.
I didn't use that card because my account was going to be transferred to the issuer of the Aqua subprime card. After I gathered some information on the aqua card, it seemed that their APR was very high, so I've never used the card again until I was sure where it was going, as I didn't want to transfer with a balance and have a big APR rise on my balance.
It surprises me how long it took for the transfer.
I am more likely to decide not to get a new Marbles card from SAV Credit, I could apply for any other card, my credit report is very good. I have 4 other cards, 3 I use regularly, so maybe it's enough for me.
  • i think the BOS online system is great ....
waaaay better than royal bank, and lloyds
    THANK MEEE:j
  • My boyfriend just received this letter and you really need to read the boring legal docs as they will tell you your new APR which is an unbelievable 33.4%???
With the rates as low as they are how can they justify making 31.4% profit on people who are struggling!!
  • I used to live in Aviemore back in 2000 for 8 years ah memories, just thought I'd share - off topic I know sorry :D

Lovely place, went skiing there with the school back in 1993, magic.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Strange, on my boring legal docs it says that I will be charged an APR of 15.94% on purchases and balance transfers. But nothing would prevent them to rise the APR once I got the card and I have a balance on it.

I'd heard that "Black" Orange Marbles cards were being switched to Beneficial Finance but can you confirm what colour yours is? IS it a white one?

At the moment I still got the original white one. It was valid until october 2009 but it seems that they are getting rid of the old cards on the 22nd february 2009 as I have to destroy it on that date.
