Nectar points at BP garages

Options
Not so much a vent rather a 'how do you know if they have given you the points?'

I do a heck of a lot of driving in my job and try to collect nectar points by using the BP garages but whenever they scan my card and I get a receipt it always says 'points total not available', sometimes I get a receipt with a double points offer on my next purchase but how do I know if this is ever honoured when the receipt I get doesn't give me a running total? do I really have to check on the website every day?

If I shop at sainsburys the receipt always gives you a total

bp seem not to have a direct link with the nectar computer system - some scan your card and some use some 80's style swipey thing! So you either have to trust them or check online...

I know exactly what you mean. I switched to a company fuel card about a year ago, really regret this now as I did really well from Tesco Clubcard points in the past when I claimed my business miles back.

I seem to collect nectar points for ever but there's no way of getting a BP breakdown of points. I check the Nectar website but it only gives totals. In fact I could swear I'm not getting my points.

I can also use Shell with my fuel card, and have noticed a few times that Shell points don't get added. When challenged, they usually ask me to wait and the swipe other customers purchases onto my card to make up. But it rarely adds up to the actual value I was due.

You can use allstar fuelcards in tesco, and the BP supercharge ones but not the selfissued BP ones

I forget the name of mine, it's the Yellow BP one, which has the yellow and black "A" logo. I can use it at BP and Shell. I'm sure it's not Allstar.

Doesn't it say on the receipt how many points have been added? Can't you just check it against your points statement every month or so? Seems a bit like saying, whenever I use my debit card the reciept doesn't tell me the balance of my bank account so how do I know the money has gone out? :)

I never had a problem with BP putting the points on my Nectar card. Check on line.

No the receipt I receive does not say if the points have been added or how many. I'm not sure if this is because I don't pay by cash / credit / debit card.

The statements only show a total for BP not a breakdown, therefore you can never identify which station has added points or not. All I know is that I am not getting all my points, or which station is not adding them.

to d.edna: I'm using a UK Agency card.

Like Kavane says above, Nectar.com does provide a full breakdown of BP points by date, name of garage and number of points issued. Are you sure you've explored the website thoroughly enough?

Click on "My points statement" under the "My Nectar" tab, then click on "BP" in orange text under the Sponsor column, and it gives all the data you're looking for.
