I sell to fund my buying
Yeah...selling to fund buying, that's the sort of thing I'm after. It's the fees I don't like (although I have no idea what they charge) - I'll only be selling items of small value (nothing over £15-20 at a guess), so don't want PayPal taking their bit too. Plus I don't like the chargeback thing. I'm not about to rip anyone off, but there are a lot of unreasonable people out there, and I really don't like the way PayPal play God.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
mrbadexample wrote:Is that not against eBay policy, to have more than one account?

No.I'm really not sure I can be bothered with all the aggro....I just want to sell a few bits I don't need, every now and then. I'm not thinking about making a business out of it.
I've sold several thousand items on eBay now and have had no agro. It really depends on the items you are selling. Some items, such as monile phones, electrical goods, etc. do attract a lot of problems, and you have to remember that you mainly only ever see people talk about problems on this MB, so it gives a really distorted view.0 -
You can have as many accounts as you choose to have and with EBays blessing.mrbadexample wrote:Is that not against eBay policy, to have more than one account?
?mrbadexample wrote:Auctions wrecked? How??
Opening "throw away" accounts on EBay is a simple task, there is NO account verification regardless of what folk may think. Thus it is a simple task to use spurious accounts to bid on auctions, have no intentions of paying, and Neg the seller. Now..... If you buy and sell with the same account and buy goods from a seller, the goods are not as described, the seller refuses to deal with the complaint, you leave negative feedback and the seller retaliates by using spurious accounts to bid on and wreck your auctions.

That's a damn fine argument for a separate selling account....
Any tips for getting some feedback rating quickly? I know I could sell myself some stuff using my other account...oh hold on, that's a bit naughty ain't it? :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

As I said in another thread, i bought several cheap CDs and Dvds that I had been wanting, but hadn't been willing to pay more more than a pound or two for. This not only built up my feedback, but also filled out my CD and DVD collection nicely.
They are also the kind of thing that can be sold on later if I want to. 0 -
You could do that but it would make a grand total of one. This is because you will only get 1 added to your feedback score for every different seller you trade with, not how many items you sell.mrbadexample wrote:I know I could sell myself some stuff using my other account...oh hold on, that's a bit naughty ain't it? :whistle:0 -

Yes..... set up the accounts you need, (buying and selling), and have a clear out of your low value CD/DVD collection
Explain in the auctions you are new, open to questions, welcome contact and you'll sail through.
Oh yeah..... Make the listings simple, include only facts, a nice picture, and enjoy.
