"Our promise to you extends beyond the local area to cover any conventional shop in the UK where you find the same item on display at a lower shelf-edge price with the same availability and terms"

I was in their credit department today getting one of their credit cards (6 months interest free) because I didnt have id with me yesterday and I wanted to buy a tv which incidentally had gone down £65 overnight due to thei matching someone elses price. Anyway I was told that the only website that they would match was their own.
Whilst I was their someone came in asking them to price match against Makro. They refused as they said it was a trade warehouse. They did say however that they would match Costco prices. That's worth remembering.0 -
My sister is an assitant buyer for John Lewis and works in the Head Office. She gets to choose what fabrics and colours they use for some tops and knitwear for the JLW range.
We were actually in JL the other day, and she showed my mum & I one or two of the tops she had chosen herself :rotfl:
Anyway, she once said that they did a survey and one of the questions was about the slogan "never knowingly undersold" and when the results came out.. they found out that about half the people questioned didnt know what the slogan meant!
It's a shame it doesn't work for internet purchases!0 -
Not relevant to John Lewis but if you have a HSBC debit or credit card they also do a price promise for 90 days. We have just received a cheque for £40 for a bike we bought at Halfords which was then reduced, but it also applies if you see it at another store. Worth keeping an eye on if you have these cards.Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0

Just digging this one up again. I tried to get a price match on a panasonic th37px60 plasma TV which I saw in another shop for 1349.99. After a week of waiting and ringing them again they came back with a price of £1495. Surely in this case the never knowingly undersold claim is bogus?
I'm thinking of trying another branch, this was WGC. I'm tempted to go to JL Watford, buy the TV then go for a refund of the differace. They don't want to make it easy do they?:mad:Nothing to see here, move along.0 -

Hi Folks,
Have John Lewis Query, and found this thread.
They will price match within a local area prior to sale. If you buy the item, then later find it cheaper ANYWHERE in UK, they will refund difference. I have a leaflet here wih policy detailed.
Can anyone advise whether John Lewis are currently offering a discount off your purchases when you take out their storecard?

Hi SFG,
I don't think that they ever offer a discount off purchases with their storecard. However, you do earn points with purchases, which are then converted to vouchers.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks DMG,
Thats worth knowing!
