I've price matched before I've bought. I'm not sure they would do it now but if it is within 28 days its certainly worth asking.

  • I have done this a few times, just go in to John Lewis and fill out one of their price matching forms, customer service will get back to you in approximatley 5 days. Bring all the details with you that you can including the store address and telephone number - this makes it easier for John Lewis to confirm the competitors price.

"Never knowingly undersold" - they must be blind, but yes, it does work. You can price match from the internet if they have a retail store somewhere in the UK.

I've only price matched before I bought, but they are preofessional in there and if you speak to the right person, they might sort you out with some vouchers...

We have done this after buying from them and then finding the same item sold elsewhere at a cheaper price. They used to match internet prices but now only 'real' shop prices. As another poster said, go to Customer Services and give them the details. You will receive a call from the price matching department. Once they have verified the information (that it is exactly the same product and it has to be in stock in the other shop too) they will call you to let you know that they are refunding the difference to your card. In your case, I would imagine that your partner would have to claim as the purchaser, not you.

We have done this a couple of times and been really impressed with the service - which has made us very confident about shopping in this store!
  • they no longer price match from the internet.

they then took the stance of only price matching within 10 miles of the store , then reduced that to 5 miles , that has or will be reduced again to 3 miles , they were losing too much money and just couldnt do it no more

When you price match, does the item have to be the exact same model with the exact same guarantee offer ? .... because i want to purchase a sony bravia Lcd tv (KDLS40A12U) this is £1995... with free 5 year guarantee...

However this is £1800 at the Sony Centre shop with a 3 yr guarantee.. and as low as £1580. on some of the online sites via pricerunner and pricedash.. but with only 1 year guarantee... any advice would be appreciated. thanx.

It has to be the exact same model but not the same gaurantee. I bought a tv from them a couple of years ago, they price matched comet who were offering the same model but with 1 year g/tee, I got it at the comet price but with 5 year g/tee. As some others have said I dont think they will pricematch an internet only site and I think the other shop has to be local
  • The first thing OP should do is to probably phone the local John Lewis and tell them what's happened. If they have a call centre, they should be able to deal with it there and then, or put you through to the department who can. Otherwise you may have to go into the store and have with you the make and model of the camera and where you've seen it cheaper. You shouldn't have to have the price of the item elsewhere but the store may have to fill out an undersale form. They will ask for all your details and you will probably get refunded the difference one way or another. Some stores may be different but my understanding is that they price match any store within a 30 mile radius although this may be dependent on the store.

You may find, this long after Christmas that it may be too late in this case - depends how long of a time it has been since purchase.

Check out John Lewis' policy online to get the right wording ...

(Not my words, but someone who should know!) Hope this helps

They now only price match if the guarantee from competitor is the same as well, so everything has to be same.
