This happened to me on my old computer, for nearly 6 months I could not work it out, pc was really slow, tried so many things until I blocked the apps access to internet totally, it was explorer.exe, it worked fine after that but still I wanted to know why it did it. So I did a search with avg anti virus with latest update and it caught a trojan, after it was deleted everything went fine, no more problems
you could re-boot your os again?0 -
At first I did a quick format, the problem still persist, then I did a full format and it still like this. Even with a full format when during installation of win xp I had to use a usb keyboard and mouse plug into my laptop as the laptop's own key and mouse dont work. So the problem is already there during install of windows.
I have done the reformat thing a few times now and the problem is still there. I have also done the anti-virus thing a few times during these installs but cannot find any virus. Don't have any anti virus on now as I'm fed up of re-install so many software everytime I do a reformat.
I'm thinking along the lines of a hardware fault i.e cpu hdd etc.0 -
Youll almost certainly need to use external keyboard and mouse to set up as you need the drivers instaleld before the laptops ACTUAL keyboard and mouse will work. Thats quite normal for a laptop
have you checked DEVICE MANAGER to see if there are any driver issues? (Yellow exclamation mark):idea:0 -
There are no driver issues in device manager, all drivers are installed.0

I think job DONE! I found one generic window's driver on the 3in1 card reader and install the laptop's driver for that. Restarted windows a few times now at cpu is normal!
If this holds up then a massive thank you to you guys! Very knowledgeable guys you lot! I cannot believe one generic driver can do so much damage.
Thanks alot guys, you have save all the grief.0 -
No worries mate
Happy computing:idea:0 -
I'm using the laptop keyboard to type this message, haven done that for ages.
You know one funny thing is I just found out that the laptop battery also caused this 90% cpu usage problem when I reboot windows causing not able to use laptop keys and mouse, when I detached the battery it's ok again!
The battery has been no good for a couple of years already, so doesn't need to be fitted to the laptop as I always have to use ac main after the first year of laptop use.0
