Wendz. See here for a 'soft' way to see which cards you'd be eligable for ie no credit mark is placed on your file. If you've been refused recently (ie within last 6 months) this is a big red flag to other lenders, so you need to be very careful about who you choose to apply to, and reasonably certain you'll be approved. I bought my sofas on 1 year 0% fiance from SCS I think it was, this is much easier credit to get than a credit card, so might be an option if the soft check indicates you won't be approved for a card.

Just tried that and is saying that I pretty much can only get one card with a massive APR. Very strange considering I have no real debt and I got a card with £4000 limit last year. I also tried with my current address and it came up the same. Might have to look into this....

Get a credit record maybe just see if there is anything untoward? I was suprised neither me or NIM can get one, but I asked a ex school friend (banker) and she said given we had no assets ie a house she really wasnt suprised, as you need to have an absolutely spotless record to get more than about 25% of your salary as total credit. Still rubbish though.

I just retried with current address, don't think it updated last time and came up with more cards and some with 0%. Think will have to get name on electoral roll etc at new place and then try again.

Also I was reading Martins thing on credit rating and says you can get turned down for the company not thinking they can make any money from you!

Well I have had a bit of a stressful one today as apparently estate agent didn't have my reference after all. Then I couldn't get hold of HR so was panicking. Also had to send over contents isurance and the internet stopped working, then the printers and then I managed to fax it the wrong way. Managed to sort it all out in the end so we are good to go.

My Mum is coming up tonight to give a bit of a hand and then OHs Dad is coming sat and Sunday with a van so we can take all the big stuff. My sister is stuck in New York and hasn't packed any of her stuff so not sure what we can do about that. We still have two weeks to move it all out though so should be able to work something out.

    Me too Yukki!

Well thing went well yesterday and we got the keys and moved a few bits in that we had in the car. The flat was even better than we remembered so we are very pleased. The only thing we are going to change is ask to paint the main bedroom cream as all the other ones are cream and that one is orange ...strange!

We were meant to move most of the other stuff over this weekend but my sister is stuck in New York till at least Wednesday because of all the flights being cancelled. She was meant to be back yesterday! None of her stuff is packed so would be a bit easier if she can do that as is harder for us to sort her stuff. At least we have time to move!

I am not too hopeful for her being back by Wednesday now, just keeps getting delayed when they are starting flights again. Wil just have to pack all her stuff up if comes to it!

Is a lovely day today but haven't done anything great. I have washed 3 and ironed 3 out of the 4 sets of curtains in the old flat. Just the massive lounge ones to go. Have also been to Asda this morning and got some food in which should hopefully last the week. I also got my passport picture done which i need for my season ticket for the train which i am getting through work to save me a bit of money.

Money keeps getting eaten up by bits and pieces but I am in a better position than I was this time last month so that is good. Think money will be a bit of a mess for a couple of months but when it has all settled down will get working on any money we need to pay off.
