This is seriously bad advice, why should royal mail pay out for some ones poor packaging? They certainly wont pay over the odds for it either. If the box is an important part of the sale it should be protected inside a larger box.Best thing to do is this, refund the buyer and let them keep the item, the you can claim back from Royal Mail for the item, they should pay out for the full cost of the item and refund you the postage that you paid to send it, that way you will not end up out of pocket, and neither will the buyer. Look around online for the site that lists the item for the highest price, print that out and claim that value (not the ebay amount) and you may even make a couple more quid.
End result is that you have your money, they have their item and their money back as compensation, and nobody is down any cash.0 -
So you would feel that way, buying it as a gift for someone, I think not.
The box is part of the overall package if you advertised it as such.
i wouldnt get nasty with the seller though, id explain the box is damaged, i wouldnt expect the seller to do anything about it though, i remember when i had lego and the box wasnt important to me at all, it was what was inside that counted0 -

And I agree. There is no excuse for nastiness, but at this time of year a box is as important as the contents.

Was the original box of Lego encased within cardboard/another box or just wrapped in paper?angeleyes01 wrote: »It is only the box that is damaged .
I would have offered a refund straight away to her but she has been pretty nasty to me in her emails.
Why should the seller have to pay to return the item when it cost enough to post it in the first place.I know it is not her fault but it is not mine either.Once i refund her i am down for the postage i have already paid and have lost the money on the star wars lego that i will not be able to sell again.0 -
I sent the a message asking her to send me a photo of the damage and then i would refund her.As soon as i sent her this message she went to paypal and put in a dispute against me.What should i do now.0

Let her get on with it. You have offered to resolve this, I wonder if she doesnt want to send a photo because there is no damage?
At this point I would be wanting the item back before I refunded her so just reply to the dispute factually, stating you have requested photos and are willing to refund on return of the set.0 -
I have checked the dispute with paypal. She does not want a full refund.
She wants a refund of £5.00 because the box was damaged and £4.00 for postage.
Should i just pay her this and get it over with.0
