Hello everyone,
I wondered if you could give me some advice.
Ten days ago I phoned up Orange to take advantage of their free Broadband offer for people who have Orange mobile phones. I asked if I was in the area to have the free offer and was told yes I was.
I was told I'd have 6-8meg speed, 10GB capacity a month all for free. I'd also have to agree to Orange taking my phone calls which again was free and would mean free evening and weekend calls.
I was very pleased and told them to proceed. I went through a sign up procedure, which involved me choosing a username, password and prefix for my email address. I was asked if I agreed to go ahead, and by agreeing I would be agreeing to a minumum 18 month contract. I of course said please go ahead as I wanted the package.
I phoned up yesterday regarding the status because I was worried I'd heard nothing from them. Not recieved the router etc. I was told by the man that no application had been made and no account set up. Eh? I've signed up on a contract.
Put through to someone else who confirms this. And now, not only this, but if I want to go ahead I can no longer get the free package and have to pay for it.
Sorry, I tell the lady. I've agreed a contract and I am not paying for something that we've both agreed different terms on. If I agreed to pay £10 a month and phoned up later saying I would only be paying them £5 a month I'm sure they wouldn't be too happy.
I cannot believe I am in this situation as I even set up a username and password when signing up. I am now waiting for a supervisor to phone me regarding the problem.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any advice?
